Job Description

Job Title: Internal Communications ManagerSalary range: £40,461-£45,536 per annum Hours: 36.5 hours per week Contract: PermanentIn these uncertain times developing and delivering great internal communications has never been more important - which is why weve created a new strategic internal communications role to sit at the heart of our organisation.During the past year weve found new ways of connecting with our staff through weekly webinars, innovative engagement sessions and regular updates using all our communications channels. Now, as we look ahead to leading the regions economic recovery after Covid, the forthcoming Mayoral elections, and an ongoing change programme, we want to make sure internal communications is strategic, influencing the way we work across the organisation and developing innovative ways to keep connected with our people.We are passionate about the importance of good two way internal communications and want our staff to be engaged and positive about our organisation and all we do. We want to build on the strong foundations of good internal communications channels and tools that have been so important over the past year to make our good internal communications great.About the roleYou will be based at the heart of the organisation in the Chief Executives Office but will work corporately and closely with our communications team and other teams across the organisation. You will be responsible for developing our new internal communications and engagement strategy and our intranet, leading on internal communications campaigns, delivering content for our regular updates and briefings for staff and evaluating the impact of internal communications.Who we needWe are looking for someone with strong experience in delivering good internal communications in a complex organisation and who understands the importance of robust strategies, forward planning and effective engagement tools. You will need to be creative, innovative and hands on - this is a role that blends high level strategic skills with the need to crack on and get things done quickly. You will need the ability to advise, influence, and co-ordinate.About the teamThe Chief Executives Office is a small team that provides programme management and administrative support to the Chief Executive and Strategic Leadership Team. It is at the centre of the organisation and works closely with directors and Mayors office to support the executive leadership of the organisation and its relationships with a range of stakeholders - including our council partners, local enterprise partnerships, and central Government. We also support the authoritys activity on inclusion and led the development of the Young Combined Authority, and other programmes and initiatives.Everything we do is focused on making life better for people in the West Midlands - thats our reason for being here and it drives every move we make.
