Job Description

RSR Police is a market leading recruitment business dedicated to supplying experienced practitioners on a temporary, contractual or permanent basis to the Law Enforcement, Cyber Security, Offender Management and Regulatory Services talent markets.RSR Police are currently recruiting for Investigators to be based in Bournville, Aston or Central Birmingham to the intelligence team developing and evaluating intelligence, making an assessment of the threat, risk, harm, vulnerabilities and opportunities which exist and identifying gaps.These roles are a temporary 3 month contract working Monday to Friday office hours. The rate of pay for this role is £15.44 per hour PAYE.Main Duties:

  • Interrogate appropriate Force and National databases and systems to develop intelligence and conduct open source research in accordance with National Police Chiefs’ Council guidelines.
  • Receive and develop intelligence working with the relevant supervisor to initiate action appropriate to the threat and risk presented.
  • Identify intelligence gaps and make recommendations for directed intelligence gathering activities.
  • Evaluate information to determine its intelligence potential.
  • To assess the necessity and proportionality of targeting Intelligence collection through Covert assets.
  • Develop and research information and intelligence reporting findings in order to support investigations.
  • Identity, develop and escalate threat in real-time to support critical incident management.
  • Proactively and reactively identify hotspots and crime series.
  • Prepare Intelligence products including those contributing to intelligence summaries and subject packages in support of investigations.
  • Provide critical incident intelligence support as directed by the Intelligence Supervisor.
  • Provide intelligence cell support to overt/covert critical / major incidents.
  • Working with and maximising opportunities for partnership working and Intelligence contribution
  • Encourage the submission of intelligence/information and actively contribute to the continuous development of the intelligence function
  • Understand and comply with the National Intelligence Model (NIM), Management of Police Information (MOPI), Data Quality principles, Data Protection and the Intelligence Service policies and procedures, including Government Security Classification (GSC) and Security Policy Framework (SPF)
  • Comply with disclosure requirements that fall within CPIA legislation
  • Complete RIPA Authorities as directed by the Intelligence Supervisor
  • Essential Requirements
  • Experience of working within in an Intelligence role
  • Experience of identifying intelligence gaps with demonstrable ability to prioritise, evidencing research skills with the ability to problem solve.
  • Knowledge of Overt and Covert police tactics
  • Knowledge of CPIA (Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996)
  • Knowledge of the National Intelligence Model (NIM) and the College of Policing APP Guidance on the Management of Police Information (MOPI) and Intelligence Management.
  • Knowledge of RIPA (Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000)
  • Ability to be able to undertake sensitive enquiries with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritise and manage competing demands.
  • Practical knowledge of police intelligence systems.
  • Ability to conduct research across multiple datasets.
  • Practical application of open source and internet research methodologies.
  • Evidence of preparing and delivering presentations.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, internal and external partners.
