Job Description

elly Group is currently looking to recruit the very best talent and have a unique opportunity for an Accident Investigator to join our team on a National coverage.Role Locations:This role will require National Travel across our main office locations:

  • Brimsdown
  • Nuneaton
  • Wembley
Job Purpose:Under the general direction of the HSQE Manager, the Accident Investigator will ensure that all incidents and accidents are logged, reported and that investigations are properly documented with the intention to reduce the risk of re-occurrence through thecreation of appropriate action plans. Ultimately helping to promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the company.Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
  • Full investigation and Root Cause Analysis of all reported incidents into the HSQE team.
  • Working collaboratively and cooperatively with all company clients.
  • Review and analyse, Health and Safety (H&S) data and trends and highlight where appropriate any areas of improvement.
  • Working closely with the HSQE team to assist and drive safety campaigns.
  • To ensure that HSQE performance is monitored and measured in line with the company and client contractual requirements, including trend analysis.
  • Identify any operational and regulatory risks, escalating as appropriate.
  • Maintain the process for recording compliance breaches and work closely with managers to ensure corrective actions are embedded.
  • Responsible for completing site inspections/audits - which include telecoms installations, civil works, poling tasks, traffic management etc.
  • Complete assessments using field based systems.
  • Provide feedback to Managers to help ensure continuous improvement.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company and departmental standards, policies and procedures - apply Kelly Communications values in all day to day activities.
  • The role is field based and will involve travelling to sites, offices, properties throughout the UK on a day to day basis.
  • Overnight stays may be required; but could be reduced by utilising technology- recorded virtual interviews, obtaining recordings, videos etc.
  • Effective networking and partnering with other members of the HSQE team and Managers, locally and nationally, to facilitate consistency and share best practice and implement solutions to improve overall safety compliance.
  • Support corrective action process working closely with field operational colleagues.
Knowledge & experience:
  • An experienced accident investigator with a good understanding of investigation methodologies. A formal lead accident investigator qualification would be desirable.
  • Proficient use and knowledge of field based software and MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • NRSWA units
  • Detailed knowledge of UK Health and Safety Legislation and industry best practice.
Essential Skills:
  • Recognised academic training such as IOSH and NEBOSH are advantageous or complete industry experience.
  • Computer Literate - field based and Microsoft office packages
  • Good report writing skills, factual and in clear English with good grammar.
  • Stringent investigation techniques, including good listening and probing questioning.
  • Possess a level of technical experience to be able to constructively contribute to problem solving sometimes complex activities.
  • Ability to follow up verbal answers with the identification of documented evidence, follow evidence trails, and identify the root and contributory causes.
  • Have an inquisitive mind.
  • Understanding of proactive and systematic auditing techniques.
  • Conversant with best practice in relation to safety assurance and compliance.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Strong communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence and credibility and able to communicate information and knowledge assertively.
  • Strong organisational skills in order to set priorities, work to deadlines and achieve results under pressure.
  • Able to balance competing priorities and meet personal targets within a fluctuating & demanding workload
