Role: Head of Technical Data ServicesSalary - Up to £58,000 + 10% bonus + car allowance + pension + more.Location: BirminghamA global organisation based in Canary Wharf are seeking a Head of Technical Data Services. This is a great opportunity to become involved at the start of a new data programme using your expertise to successfully make this leading organisation more data-driven. You will play an instrumental part within an enthusiastic programme aiming to enable world-class data analytics and data science capabilities through a new cloud-based data-lake and virtual warehouse.The Head of Technical Data Services will work closely with the CDO (Chief Data Offier), Product Owners and Strategic Architect to bring the data vision to life. You will be responsible for the management of several teams and systems providing various data services across both internal and external customers. As well as managing existing data services you will be responsible for the teams designing, deploying and maintaining the new capabilities identified in the data strategy utilising whichever delivery methodology suits.Responsibilities: * You will primarily be responsible for establishing IT delivery teams to design, build, test and deploy new data services requested by the business and prioritised by the Product Owner for the data programme.* You will also be responsible for continuing the delivery and support of services on existing data platforms with existing IT teams. These teams are currently dispersed throughout varying IT departments with the intention to create one enterprise-wide community of data professionals managed by you. * You will establish an IT Roadmap, communicating the Areas of Focus for the teams to ensure the entire IT team/s are pulling in the same direction and moving forwards. You will be ultimately responsible for ensuring that all delivery follows SDLC principles. * You will continually monitor the efficiency of your teams, increasing delivery capacity as and when required.* You will ensure that all data services are running to the required availability and latency metrics* You will be responsible for putting in-place the relevant IT Support models for all data-services* You ultimately be involved in the key escalation route for major service-affecting incidentsOutcome, Results and Key Performance Indicators: * Key indicators of the success of this role include but are not restricted to;o Successful movement of existing data professional teams into your teamo Continued delivery and support of services by those teams during transitiono Key milestones met for the data programmeo Successful ongoing supportability and maintenance of the data systems and the eco-systemo A happy community of data customers throughout the business and externally who trust you and the team to deliver fit-for-purpose productsKnowledge and Skills: * Expert knowledge of running several teams of Data engineers and/or BI professionals preferably in an agile environment* Experience in a similar industry FM Services or Energy sector* Widespread knowledge of data technologies including AWS services, Redshift, Sage Maker, Athena, Snowflake and SAP technologies * Day-to-day knowledge of monitoring the efficiency of teams regarding incident management and delivery throughput* Experience with Python, Power BI, R and other Data visualisation tools would be an advantageExperience: * Experience within a Head of role, comfortable talking to a wide range of stakeholders from senior executives to support engineers * Experience of working within a medium or large-scale organisation * Experience of Agile delivery methodology and how to best make use of teams to successfully deliver key data services to stakeholders.
