Job Description

Head of M&A - EuropeWe are recruiting for a Head of M&A for Europe within a leading software group, which is a division of a large international listed software group. The business are part of a global organisation that acquires, manages and builds software companies in variousmarkets.The Head of M&A - Europe will play a pivotal role in leading an established origination and transactional team within the group’s European M&A team. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in managing M&A transactions and leadingteams to deliver exceptional results. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with potential vendors, internal and external stakeholders and the group’s executive and operational team, to drive growth and create value through acquisitions, divestituresand continued origination funnel optimisation.Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the transactional team on all aspects of M&A transactions, including due diligence, valuation, negotiation and internal deliverables to our investment committee.
  • Lead and manage the origination team on opportunity creation, engagement, deal origination and opportunity funnel management.
  • Execute and improve the comprehensive M&A process to align with vendor and internal business objectives and dynamics.
  • Build and nurture relationships with key potential targets, identifying opportunities for M&A and leading the deal lifecycle.
  • Manage and mentor a team of M&A professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, tax, finance, and operational experts, to ensure seamless execution of transactions and optimise integration efforts.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and market developments to improve origination activities.
  • Drive business development efforts, contributing to the growth of the group in Europe
  • Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct in all interactions and engagements.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout Europe as the business continues to grow their footprint and team.
Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of success in leading M&A transactions within a reputable financial services, investment or advisory firm.
  • Experience in Software M&A would be a plus
  • Strong technical expertise in financial analysis, valuation methodologies, and deal structuring.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve ambitious goals.
  • Relationship-centric mindset with a focus on delivering results and building long-term bonds.
  • Sound judgment, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex business challenges and uncertainties.
  • Professional certifications such as CFA, ACA, ACCA, CPA, or similar credentials are a plus.
  • Fluency in another European language a plus!
This role is a hybrid role so you could be based anywhere around the UK, Spain or a CEE European Union country, but must have the flexibility to get out to see clients when required around the UK and Europe.
