Job Description

The Head of Logistics will be responsible for all logistics operations nationally including commercial management of 3pls and overseeing future operations growthClient DetailsThe Head of Logistics will be working for a leading food manufacturing business with West Midlands Head offices operating within the Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain sectorDescription

  • Oversee the performance of all logistics teams within the business and provide senior guidance and leadership to all necessary direct/indirect reports
  • Manage resource effectively to ensure the delivery of operational objectives in a cost effective manner whilst maintaining a high service level standard
  • Proactively lead and develop the team including growing continuous improvement standards and ensuring development of key performance metrics
  • Responsible for recruiting, training and developing new team members as well as succession planning and coaching existing team members
  • Achieve operational cost targets through a focus on accurate and realistic operations planning
  • Ensure compliance across all departments for relevant legislation and regulations across direct and 3pl distribution streams
  • Oversee an effective fleet management strategy including MOTs and accident repair
  • Ensure that WTD and Drivers Hours regulations are effectively managed throughout the business
  • Promote a customer focused distribution environment with a large bias towards delivering best in industry service levels
  • Take ownership of customer issues and manage towards positive outcomes either directly or indirectly
Profile
  • Relevant and demonstrable experience of senior operations and strategic leadership within a logistics environment
  • 3pl experience is advantageous
  • Must have a strong transport bias with a CPC being essential
  • Management of multi-site logistics operations is a necessity
  • Will have strong stakeholder engagement skills and a proactive approach to team/people development
  • Will be comfortable operating across a national remit with Birmingham as a core base
Job OfferThe Head of Logistics will be paid £80,000 plus a strong package
