Job Description

Dont miss this fantastic opportunity to join the team at a well-established, family run glass and glazing business based in Witton, Birmingham.Glass CutterWitton, B6 7DBFull time, PermanentMonday-Friday; 40 hours a weekSalary: £22,880.00-£25,000 per year dependent on experienceOur client is a family run business that was founded in 1970 and incorporated in 1972. They are an accredited member of the Glass and Glazing Federation. They currently employ four experienced Glaziers, two Glass Cutters and two Sealed Unit Assemblers, andare proud that the majority of their workforce has been employed by them for over ten years.They have been looking after the glazing needs of Birmingham for 50 years and have built up an excellent reputation for the efficient, professional services they provide.Their current contracts include emergency glazing for local authorities (schools, libraries, care homes etc), health authorities, universities & colleges, leisure centres and sports venues.Due to continued expansion, they now have a vacancy for an experienced Glass Cutter.About the Glass Cutter Role:Our client is looking for a GlassCutter with experience in various aspects of glass cutting, to operate from their premises in Witton, B6.The job will include:

  • Lifting and manoeuvring of glass sheets, manual handling and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Cutting glass of various thicknesses by hand into specific sizes or shapes, using straight edge, tape and glass cutting tools whilst working to a no-tolerance standard.
  • Washing and labelling of glass.
  • Dealing with customers at the trade counter and by telephone, including completion of all relevant paperwork.
  • Loading and unloading of delivery vehicles.
  • Maintaining stock levels of glass and ancillary items.
  • Any other duties deemed necessary to help production in the factory.
About the Successful Candidate:
  • At least 1 years experience within the glass trade is essential.
  • Somebody that is punctual.
  • Holds a strong work ethic.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team when required.
  • Organised with good communication skills.
  • Good writing and numeracy skills.
This role is based in Birmingham B6, so it is essential you are able to commute or plan to relocate before starting work.Benefits of the role:
