We are currently exclusively partnering with an international Freight Forwarder, who are looking for a Freight Operations Manager to come and be apart of their senior leadership team.Key responsibilities:The duties and tasks assigned to this role consist of, but not limited to: Create a safe working environment for employees by putting in place safety measures to prevent accident and complications that may arise during work. Supervise activities of workers to ensure that they are hands-on in order to promote hard-work, which is needed to meet clients expectations and deadlines. Liaise with transportation companies / shipping lines / airlines / rail operators to create a good working relationship and to strike good negotiations for transportation of goods. Production of operational procedures to ensure the excellent quality of service provided to our clients are upheld. Ensure all sales and purchase invoices are passed and generated in a timely manner and within company guidelines. Ensure all queries are dealt with effectively and in a timely manner. To instil a resolute approach to work within the team, one that ensures we complete the task at hand prior to the completion of each working day. To maintain internal and external communications between all personnel and divisions. Ensure all customs clearances are completed accurately and in line with company / HMRC procedures. To be involved in the recruitment process of additional personnel into the operations department. Evaluate transportation cost and other expenses and verify that they are not more than the amount charged to clients, to ensure that a positive account balance is left at the end of every transaction. Maintain records of all shipping activities, documenting procedures, guidelines, and changes in procedures for reference purposes. Carry out regular performance reviews with each individual as well as completing annual appraisals. Oversee and implement training procedures where necessary for existing and new personnel within the operations department. Ensure general quotations are completed and returned within the guidelines set by the company. Performance and financial reports provided to the branch Director. Regular contact with existing clients to ensure the service we are providing meets the high standard set by the company.The Ideal Candidate:
