Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a (JV) Joint Venture Financial Controller to support the Balfour Beatty Vinci joint venture for the HS2 project in Birmingham.Purpose of the role: As Financial Controller you’ll be a member of the Senior Finance Leadership team with a significant role to play in building the financial environment and coordinate, consolidate finance reporting internally with sublots and externally with parent companies on a consistent basis.If this sounds like a role that you would love to get involved in, please read on!What youll be doingAs JV Financial Controller your main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Ensures overall control of financial information in terms of results, forecasts and cash flow
  • Coordinate the preparation and maintenance of accounts records and reports, including those related to the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventories, assets, etc
  • Ensure monthly, quarterly, annual financial reporting to Balfour Beatty Vinci (BBV)Management, HS2 and Finance Departments of parent company’s.
  • Analysis and reporting of key business financial information (KPI’s)
  • Maintain a strong focus on cash management inclusive of cashflow forecast, cash position reporting, payment processes, bank administration, bank reconciliation and support the application for payment process
  • Oversee process and payment of invoices, subcontractors and employee expenses with the supervision of the project’s accounts team
  • As part of the procurement procedure: conduct financial analysis and issue financial recommendations on selected suppliers and subcontractors, participate to investment appraisal (purchase vs. hire)
  • Participate to internal and external financial audits
  • Be proactive in identifying weak signals and leading indicators of potential issues on the project

  • Relevant experience gained within a contracting/projects environment is preferable but not essential.
    • Please note: The role may require some travel, but will be predominantly based in BirminghamAbout BBVBalfour Beatty VINCI is responsible for designing and building part of the most exciting and challenging railway project in Europe: HS2.We are building the West Midlands section of HS2’s Phase One route, spanning approximately 90km from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.   • 42 viaducts totaling over 11km, 66 over-bridges;
  • More than 35 cuttings reaching over 30km;
  • 56 culverts and other under-bridges;
  • 66 embankments reaching over 33km;
  • Building four motorway crossings requiring box structures and six interfaces with the existing rail requiring both dive-under and over-bridge structures.
