Job Description

Financial Controller£58,000 - £65,000 PA + Annual BonusBirminghamHybrid (2 days in office)Hamilton Woods are working with a worldwide expert company in wholesale and retail. The Financial Controller will lead and manage the Accounts Payable and Cashier Receipts teams to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of finance transaction relatedprocesses. Responsible for the financial accounting and reporting for the business and compliance with accounting standards and legislation.Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the reporting of financial information to internal and external parties including monthly Magnitude packages, statutory accounts, and tax computations.
  • Monitor compliance with accounting standards and statutory legislation and take steps to enforce compliance whenever applicable including escalation if necessary.
  • Manage and coordinate the annual external audit process.
  • Oversight of the day-to-day accounting operations undertaken by the Accounts Payable and Cashier Receipts teams, ensuring that controls are operating effectively, and control accounts are routinely reconciled.
  • Responsibility for the Delegated Authority Limits, ensuring enforcement across all business processes and supporting the UK control environment.
  • Manage the banking facilities and act as key point of contact for bank relationship team. Stewardship of the Balance Sheet, ensuring that all accounts are routinely reconciled and reviewed.
Essential Experience:
  • Experience in Financial Accounting team within a large organisation or experience in external audit at an accountancy firm (Top 10 - desired).
  • Evidence of strong organisational and time management skills. The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced finance team.
  • Ability to communicate and persuade at all levels and proven ability in people and process management.
  • Exposure to a wide range of business issues with evidence of being able to add value.
  • Track record in pro-active stakeholder engagement with the ability to work across a broad range of groups including external auditors or advisors, suppliers, and internal customers.
  • Experience in line management; objective setting and performance monitoring for direct reports. The ability to train, coach and delegate effectively.
Technical Skills Required:
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
  • Able to lead, manage and influence in a dynamic finance environment with ongoing rapid change and ambiguity.
  • Able to gain support from a range of different functions and line managers to effect change.
  • Ability to analyse data rapidly to identify risks and opportunities, and/or to provide variance analysis to aid decision making.
  • Ability to produce and present financial/statistical data and provide reliable information in a format which is clear and to the point, able to answer questions in a way which meets the needs of the person concerned.
  • Finance systems and process improvement experience.
  • Knowledge and level of proficiency in the use of IT software packages required, such as accounting software, all MS Office packages and an advanced Microsoft Excel user.
Remuneration
  • Competitive salary £58,000 - £65,000 + annual bonus
