Job Description

Your new roleHere at Highways England, we currently have an opportunity for a Financial Analyst. This role will be to provide input to all medium term financial planning activities, take leadership for interaction with specific Directorates and provide narrative and facilitation to ensure the medium term financial position is clear, is accurately documented and communicated appropriately.This is a full time permanent role based in our Birmingham office, The Cube. What you’ll be leading on

  • Produce corporate financial reports and analysis required for internal decision-making forum including Business Review meetings, Executive and Board committees, DfT Client and Shareholder teams, Office for Rail and Road, and Transport Focus, ensuring accurate and timely delivery.
  • Provide policy and process advice on the company’s financial planning processes, including input into the Medium Term Financial Plan.
  • Provide secretarial service to the Executive Finance Committee, liaising with the Chief Finance Office and Director of Strategic Finance to agree agenda and brief contributors accordingly.
  • Liaise with colleagues and customers, building effective relationships to develop efficiency and contribute to the continuous improvement of services.
  • Comply with statutory and internal process and procedure and maintain accurate financial and performance records using organisational systems.

  • Accounting experience, including understanding of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and of FReM.
  • Part qualified accountant with a relevant up-to-date professional membership (or equivalent through experience).
  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • Excellent influencing, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good Excel skills. Literacy in other office software products to enable production / maintenance of a range of complex documents and spreadsheets.
