Finance Business PartnerWe have a role to provide financial support, insight, challenge and partnership to the Leadership Team of a Region within National Highways, directly and through the direction and coordination of Assistant Finance Business Partner(s). The role representsa senior finance position associated with the South West Region, and the holders are responsible both for the development of financial strategy and processes within their area and for maintaining strong communications with the Central FBS Team.This role will require regular travel to the South West and our Bristol office.What youll be leading onA member of the Regional Leadership Team and the senior point of contact for all financial issues for that area of the business. Finance Business Partner to the South West Regional Director (Operations Directorate).Provide specialist support, guidance and advice on key strategic and commercial issues and influence performance outcomes. Support the Business by providing objective analysis of business performance, highlighting key issues and problem areas and making recommendationsfor action where appropriate.Coordinate and act as the first point of contact for monthly financial performance and current year forecast, maintaining regular contact with the Lead Finance Business Partners and Management/Financial Accounting Teams to facilitate effective two way communicationregarding the financial prospects, current company pressures and priorities for the area of the business they are aligned to and supporting other Regional/Divisional teams as required.Responsible for performance management and forecast robustness, ensuring that the Business Leadership, Assistant Finance Business Partners and FBS Central Teams are all clear about their respective responsibilities in ensuring that the company meets its financialand non-financial targets.Lead the Business Planning Process for their area of responsibility, ensuring that timelines and requirements are understood by all and met, that the budget set is achievable and meets the objectives of the organisation.Support the Regional Director in presenting the budget to FBS and other forums as required.Champion the adoption of new business processes and embed them at a Regional / National level.Provide leadership to Assistant Finance Business Partners and help transform National Highways into a high performing company, actively fostering good morale and a high level of engagement in the team.Lead the development of robust business cases, through proactive engagement with SROs, project teams and Subject Matter Advisers and strong oversight, support, training and development of the Assistant Finance Business Partners to ensure that the case is acceptablefor submission to the relevant Board and that the CFO is adequately briefed to contribute meaningfully to the discussion of each case.Ensure that all significant decisions taken by the Region are supported by robust financial analysis and provide challenge to the decision-making process to ensure optimum use of company resource.Take responsibility for financial governance and controls for the Region, coordinating with Financial Control and Corporate Assurance teams to understand and communicate the current framework, ensure it is being adhered to and identify breaches and opportunitiesfor improvement.To be successfulSignificant finance, governance and commercial experience. Qualified Accountant or Qualified Finance Business PartnerExperience in the presentation of analysis and clear documentation into the risks, volatility and sensitivities of key cost behaviours presented alongside the forecast and in year reporting.Experience in developing teams and supporting financial training including the wider business.Ability to understand and analyse complex information and present it simply and accurately.Project management knowledge to the equivalent of a PRINCE2 Practitioner. Has project managed a project successfully, leading a discrete project from inception to delivery.Understands the relationship of a project to a portfolio or programme of work and is able to perform a post project review to ensure that learnings are documented, measured and communicated for future guidance.A bit about usAt National Highways we believe in a connected country.
