Job Description

JC27 – Field Service EngineerLocation – Birmingham/Stoke (Home Based)Salary – £CompetitiveOverview:First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our client to recruit a Field Service Engineer that is home-based. The Field Service Engineer will be servicing/commissioning customer equipment, with a potential to then learn fault finding and being trained for overseas work. The role involves considerable travel, initially within the UK, with the expectation of an averageof 5-10 nights away from home per month. Generally, work will be scheduled for work week within the region the FSE is based however from time to time out of hour and weekend working will be required as will travelling into other regions.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Servicing of Electric & Diesel Driven pumping equipment and systems.
  • Servicing, installation, and commissioning of centrifugal pumps.
  • Fault-finding on electrical control panels.
  • Alignment and installation of rotating machinery.
  • Meet with customers.
  • Supervise or direct tradesman or contractors in these tasks.
  • Train customers and other engineers on the equipment.
  • Operate systems to demonstrate equipment and to analyse malfunctions.
  • Interpret maintenance manuals, drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repair equipment, utilising specialist knowledge and standard test instruments and tools.
  • Consult with SPP engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation and maintenance.
  • Advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, and suggestions for product improvements.
  • Ensures equipment, local conditions and operating procedures are safe for all parties.
  • Present a professional image, support, and promote brand values at all times.
  • Carry out all work practices in line with the Company Health and Safety Policy.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures In particular regarding accreditation and calibration of tolls and equipment.
  • Meet high standard of cleanliness and housekeeping, including care of company vehicle.
  • Completion of work task within the allotted timescales.
Skills and Experience:Essential:
  • City & guilds qualification in engineering and or previous experience with rotating equipment.
  • Relevant qualification to NVQ Level 3/4 (A-level to HNC or equivalent)) in mechanical engineering or relevant experience which shall be at least 5 years as a pump field service engineer.
  • People skills, teamwork, and collaboration.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Commercially aware.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Full driving license
Desirable:
  • Electrical qualification will be an advantage.
  • Field Service background would be preferable, with a core skill in either Mechanical or Electrical field, but does not need to be industry specific.

  • A competitive salary DOE,with a potential to work up through the grades with an enhanced rate for overseas work.
  • 39 hours per week: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00.
