Job Description

You have the chance to work with a leading company supplying specialist products to leading companies. As the Environmental and Sustainability Manager, you will be part of a well-established HSE team, driving the environmental improvement agenda.Client DetailsThis leading, customer focused business is investing in their environmental journey, dedicated to making long term sustainability and environmental improvements across the organisational supply chain. As the Environmental & Sustainability Manager, you willhave the support of the leadership team in creating and implementing these improvement initiatives.DescriptionThis role gives you the opportunity to be the driving force behind identifying improvement opportunities and leading the site in embedding a culture of change. You will be given the autonomy to lead environmental initiatives & work with the wider group todeliver sustainable change.Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement environmental policies and act as champion for environmental issues within the logistics organisation
  • Working to deliver exceptional performance across key metrics and KPI measures in line with functional and organisational goals and objectives
  • Responsible for devising environmental & sustainability strategies that deliver best practice
  • Ensure that all environmental processes are developed and kept up to date against industry requirements
  • To drive a continuous improvement culture to achieve optimal performance
  • To liaise with regulatory bodies such as the environment agency
  • Driving an environmental culture in all sites by ensuring the logistics management team is accountable for compliance
  • Keep up to date with relevant changes in environmental legislation and initiatives
  • Ensure the operation operates within company guidelines and legislative requirements to protect all site personnel (colleagues, contractors, visitors etc) and ensure that operational compliance and reputation is maintained.
  • Support in the development, implementation and sustaining of the company values and standards
  • Assist in ensuring that all appropriate training and development is planned and delivered to meet both current and future environmental legislation
  • Holding regular reviews with the management teams to strengthen engagement and support development
  • Acting as a key member of the leadership team by actively demonstrating the standards behaviours and values to drive team effectiveness across the business
  • Achieving operational excellence by ensuring the function consistently meets its agreed service levels and standards
  • Ensure careful planning of the operation to optimise cost effectiveness
  • Verification and/or development of operational procedures and instructions to meet contract requirements.
  • Creating a customer focused mindset throughout the function, ensuring the customer is at the heart of everything we do
  • Working collaboratively with support functions to reduce budgetary spend
  • Contribution targets as agreed with the senior executive team
ProfileAn HSE/Environmental Manager with proven experience, ideally within a manufacturing or distribution operation (other industries will be considered). The successful applicant will also have the following:
  • IEMA Membership or environmentally biased degree qualification
  • Significant experience with environmental compliance and sustainability
  • In depth knowledge of environmental legislation and the practical business implications
  • Proven ability in developing and delivering effective environmental compliance, strategy & improved performance
Job OfferCirca £55,000 - £65,000 + Bonus + Additional Benefits
