Your new roleJoin us as the Engineering Team Manager for Pavements and bring your specialist knowledge and experience to head up one of our teams in our West Midlands Region. As Engineering Team Manager for Pavements, you will be the responsible for managing all Highways Englands road pavements on the Strategic Road Network in the West Midlands. As well as managing a team of engineers, your role will include identifying and prioritising asset needs using various sources of intelligence, with a view to developing renewal schemes to ensure the Motorway and APTR pavements remain in a safe and serviceable condition to keep the country connected.You will be required to drive as part of your role and you will need to have a full clean driving license to be considered for this position and during employment.What youll be leading on* Providing leadership, direction and line management for a team of specialist engineers, ensuring timely setting of objectives, performance management reviews and development of appropriate succession and development plans.* Managing the utilisation and allocation of team resources to ensure appropriate resourcing levels for all the activities in scope, including providing technical support for Project Managers in the scheme design and delivery process.* Asset ownership for highway Pavements, ensuring asset specific management plans and asset management decisions adhere to defined policies and standards, provide value for money and maximise contribution to the delivery of business objectives.* Providing technical expertise in the identification and prioritisation of asset specific needs, renewal option evaluation and selection, and development of early solutions.* Collaborating with engineering colleagues, Project Managers, Service Delivery Managers and Route Managers to ensure that regional forward programmes, capital investment and maintenance plans reflect asset needs and considerations, are developed in a way that is compliant with the relevant technical policies and standards, and take into account new techniques, materials, buildability, and costs.* Authorising technical briefs, reports, specifications, drawings and supporting information* Managing the implementation and adoption of relevant best practice asset management processes, including ensuring the maintenance of accurate and up to date asset information and databases.* Maintaining oversight of reactive management and incidents affecting the condition of the Pavements.* Setting the direction and high-level requirements for Pavement inspection plans and maintenance regimes to reflect specific local needs and risks, whilst maintaining overall compliance with defined standards.To be successful* You will have relevant technical qualifications ideally a Chartered Member of the ICE, IEng, or equivalent* Extensive experience of managing a technical team* Thorough understanding of relevant technical Standards for Highways, asset policies and strategies, including HD36, DfS and section 58 of the Highways Act 1980* Experience of developing asset management plans for road types* Experience of compliance with the ADMM, AMOR and MRP* Thorough knowledge of asset condition assessment techniques* A full and clean UK driving licenceA bit about usMaking sure our customers have safe and reliable journeys is at the heart of everything we do in Operations.
