Job Description

The role requires a person with a high skill level in utility contract management (including market knowledge and understanding of utilities legislation), forecasting energy usage and utility costs, and data interpretation.Client DetailsOur client is a public sector organisation in Birmingham with a large estate.Description

  • Identify and understand energy usage and profiles across campus, benchmarking against similar facilities and highlighting areas/ times of high usage. Sharing the information with the Engineering Team who will then investigate and act. Provide ongoing monitoringto ensure the actions taken are suitable.
  • Work with the Engineering Team and Environment Manager to develop Business Cases for Energy and Carbon Reduction Projects.
  • Manage the Energy Metering System, Utility Company Meter Operators and Manual Meter Readings, ensuring accuracy and reliability of the data streams.
  • Lead on ISO50001, working collaboratively with the Sustainability Manager and Engineering Team.
  • Report on Energy Usage and Carbon Equivalent.
  • Work with the Engineering Team and Environment Manager to provide Carbon Intensity insight of Utilities, and the opportunities to reduce carbon emissions from utilities.
  • Manage Utility contracts (inc. Meter Operator Contracts), including procurement, contract operation, invoice validation and dispute resolution.
  • Working in consultation and close co-operation with finance and procurement departments and liaise with utility companies in line with the wider estate strategy and steering group recommendations.
  • Support the delivery of energy and carbon KPIs, align to the known Estates strategy and master plan and report against these.
  • Contribute to reviews of engineering services designs (whether generated from internal or external parties such as project/ design teams) from an energy perspective and identify and report on possible measures that could be implemented.
  • Forecast and manage the energy and utility budgets ~£3m, managing and reporting the coherent budget position.
  • Manage the data return for the energy related Estates Management Statistics are collated in a timely manner for the HESA return.
ProfileThe candidate will have a proven track record of energy and carbon analysis, identify opportunities and working with Engineers and Sustainability Managers to develop business cases.The role is based in Birmingham and will require a site presence for at least 3 days a week so you will need to be based within a reasonable commuting distance of Birmingham.Job OfferA salary of up to £43,000 - £50,000 is on offer DOE and you will also be enrolled on to a generous pension scheme.
