Job Description

We have a current opportunity for a Early Years Assessor on a temporary basis. Key accountabilities

  • To assess, visit and monitor Early Years and Teaching Assistant students/Apprentices, while on placement.
  • To support completion of the DBS process for all Students prior to going out on placement
  • To work closely with tutors and Department Managers and liaise with placements
  • To undertake visits to placements and maintain all records in relation to every placement
  • To follow all BMet Work Placement Policies and Procedures
  • To develop links with employers and generate enhanced networks with local staffing bodies.
  • To maintain comprehensive records of placements, record progress and attendance of candidates through liaison with tutors and placements
  • To ensure that progress and performance is monitored and recorded accurately to ensure that Birmingham Metropolitan College provide an efficient service.
  • Any other duties commensurate to the grade.
People Management and general college responsibilities
  • Participate in the Colleges Performance Review Process
  • Be fully aware of College policies relating to equality and diversity and actively promote positive practice in this respect.
  • Maintain awareness of the requirements of the College Health and Safety policy and to promote positive practice in respect of health and safety rules in the workplace
  • Ensure adherence to the College Data Protection policy
  • Work to the College quality standards within the context of the College quality systems
  • Support promotional events and undertake occasional evening and weekend duties as required.
Person specification and experience
  • GSCE (or equivalent qualification) in both Maths and English
  • Level 3/4 or equivalent qualification in Early Years and/or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent|)
  • D32/32 TAQA
  • Relevant Experience in the Early Years/Education sector
  • Understanding of Early Years and STLS programmes and placement requirements for both.
  • Ability to undertake and liaison with employers
  • Knowledge of undertaking risk assessment
  • Ability to complete the current DBS process
  • Hold a current full, clean driving licence
  • Intermediate to advanced IT skills
  • Highly organised, team player with the ability to work to strict deadlines
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Have enthusiasm in the role
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Willingness to undertake necessary training as appropriate
