Job Description

Development Operations Engineer - Counter Terrorism Policing HQThe starting salary is £51,196, which includes allowances totalling £2,841.The salary is broken down as £48,355 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £52,730 Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.Location: BirminghamCounter Terrorism Policing (CTP) relies on a broad range of technology to protect the UK. As a DevOps Engineer you’ll be part of a transformational team that will change the way technical solutions are delivered to operational policing. Join us andplay your part in combatting terrorist threats with CTP.As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll join a new team of DevOps Engineers, working flexibly from home or from our offices in Birmingham or London. Together, you’ll support the development pipeline for national systems that underpin CTP operations that keep the countrysafe. It’s an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that will support the development and operation of software. The goal To create a world-class function.The new team will support good development processes including managing tools and testing environments, maintaining central code control, upholding development standards and writing software that automates systems. You’ll deliver automated software componentsthat form part of a development operations tool chain - an essential role in the team.This is no job for a beginner - you’ll need a solid background in software engineering or platform infrastructure support. We’re also looking for a proven track record in creating and maintaining DevOps or similar pipelines. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Developed Vetting (DV) level before taking up the post.Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event thatpotential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties.
