Job Description

Join Our Team as Deputy Head Teacher!Are you an experienced and passionate educator with a background in special education Are you ready to take on a leadership role in a dynamic and supportive environment We are seeking a dedicated Deputy Head Teacher for a special school in Harborne, Birmingham.Previous experience working as a Deputy Head in a special school is essential for this role.The school provides outstanding education and support to secondary-age students with autism and complex needs. The role is to start ASAP on a full-time basis.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and support to the Head Teacher in the day-to-day management and operation of the school.
  • Lead and manage specific areas of school development, including curriculum, assessment, and student welfare.
  • Support and mentor teaching staff in implementing effective teaching and learning strategies for students with autism and complex needs.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers, external agencies, and the wider community to promote positive outcomes for our students.
  • Play a key role in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of provision and implementing improvements as necessary.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and relevant postgraduate qualification in education leadership.
  • Previous experience working as a Deputy Head Teacher in a special school setting is essential.
  • Comprehensive understanding of autism and complex needs, with proven experience in supporting and advocating for students with diverse learning requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff, students, and stakeholders.
