Job Description

Data Protection Officer - CIPP, CIPM, Data Protection, Data Security, DPOOur leading law firm client are currently looking for a new Data Protection Officer (CIPP, CIPM, Data Protection, Data Security, DPO) to join their firm on a permanent basis.The Data Protection Officer (CIPP, CIPM, Data Protection, Data Security, DPO) will be responsible for the for implementation and maintenance of the firm’s global privacy and data protection compliance program.To be considered for this role it is ideal that you have the following:

  • 3 + Years within a data protection position
  • Ideally but not necessary 3 + years within a law firm environment
  • a CIPP or CIPM Qualification
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Advises on personal data protection and data handling standards and on appropriate disclosure, notification and consent mechanisms. Researches and responds to privacy-related questions from both clients and business units as these arise.
  • ssists in the development and negotiation of data sharing agreements and data transfer agreements.
  • Ensures that data subject access requests are logged and responded to within the prescribed periods.
  • Prepares and maintains (or ensures maintenance of) data protection program documentation, including personal data records of processing, Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), data incident record; and conducts periodic compliance assessments of these.
  • Collaborates with IT, information security, human resources, marketing, and other business units as relevant to ensure incorporation of a privacy by design approach into data processing procedures. Works to understand use cases and develop operational procedures for new business scenarios involving internal or external (i.e. client) data handling.
  • Monitors country-specific regulatory activities to ensure awareness of changes in regulatory environment. Establishes relationships with the firm’s privacy practice to leverage firm resources in this respect in consultation with the Office of General Counsel. Quickly assesses implications of such changes and helps adapt business practices as appropriate
  • Assists in incident and data breach responses (including evaluating notification requirements).
