Job Description

We are lookingfor a Court Manager for the Basketball 3x3 and Wheelchair Basketball 3x3 Competitions at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.The official job title for this role is Field of Play (FOP) Manager - Basketball 3x3 & Wheelchair Basketball 3x3.The Court Manager will be responsible for the delivery of the Field of Play (FOP) in accordance with FIBA and IWBF rules and regulations. In coordination with the Sport Competition Manager and Assistant Sport Competition Manager, the successful candidatewill manage a team of sport specific volunteers to ensure that access to, flows around and maintenance of the Field of Play is delivered in line with the Sport Operations Plan.Responsibilities

  • The Court Manager will manage and deliver all aspects of the competition Field of Play (FOP) within Basketball 3x3 and Wheelchair Basketball 3x3 competition at the Games.
  • Work closely with the Basketball 3x3 & Wheelchair Basketball 3x3 Sport Competition Manager to ensure all relevant B2022 policies and procedures are followed by members of Basketball 3x3 and Wheelchair Basketball 3x3 Sport Competition Team.
  • Liaise with the Sport Equipment Team & associated contractors about the installation, maintenance and cleaning of sport equipment and implements used on the FOP.
  • In cooperation with the Sport Presentation Producer, manage the marshalling of teams to the FOP as part of the official presentation routine prior to the start of the game.
  • Coordinate with the Sport Presentation Producer all FOP entertainment/sport presentation elements.
  • Work with the Sport Competition Manager to develop processes for the management of unusual situations that may arise on the FOP.
  • Understand the policies, escalation and reporting procedures pertaining to the FOP.

  • Experience of working on the FOP at international basketball events (3x3 or 5v5).
  • Excellent working knowledge of Basketball 3x3 and/or Wheelchair Basketball 3x3. Consideration will be given to someone who can demonstrate they can become proficient in their understanding of the 3x3 discipline in a short period of time.
  • Knowledge of /experience of working with FIBA and/or IWBF at international events.
  • Ability to lead the training of the Sport Specific Volunteers in advance of the Games.
  • Experience of managing staff and/or volunteers in a pressurised environment.
  • Good knowledge of the needs and behaviour of international athletes, team officials and National and International Technical Officials.
Desirable
  • Previous experience in a sport competition role at a major event.
  • Previous experience of working with Para Sports.
  • Knowledge of sport competition requirements and relevant integration into a multi-sport Games environment.
