Job Description

Construction TechnicianLocation: West MidlandsSalary: CompetitiveThe company are looking to recruit Construction Technicians based in the West Midlands area to attend construction sites nationwide.The Role

  • To attend construction sites nationwide daily on behalf of various clients to fulfil their testing requirements in compliance with UKAS and UK and EU Standards.
  • To sample fresh concrete from concrete pours and make concrete test cubes and carry out slump tests as required by the client.
  • To record concrete pour information and complete all paperwork for site sampling. Complete all concrete cube sheets/ QA records/ booking in forms accurately and ensure all samples are returned to the lab for curing within the specified period.
  • To support the Laboratory testing services. Follow the stipulated rules for the correct placing of the cubes in the tanks and the guidelines for booking in of fresh and collected cubes and beams. Assist with tank maintenance; cube measuring, weighing andcrushing and results reporting when asked to work in the laboratory to assist the Testing team.
  • To maintain the equipment and vehicle provided to a very high standard of cleanliness.
  • To follow all site health and safety requirements and wear appropriate G T Certification clothing and PPE at all times.
Knowledge/ Qualifications
  • Clean driving licence
  • CSCS Card
  • Basic literacy and numeracy. (GCSE Maths and English required).
  • Practical experience and working knowledge of construction sites and knowledge of H&S best practice.
  • Sound working knowledge of UK road networks.
  • Experience of technical forms and worksheets and ability to complete paperwork accurately and legibly.
  • Sound knowledge of UKAS approved methodology and strict adherence to in house training on the making of cubes/beams/ slump testing etc.
  • Good working knowledge of the relevant British and EU standards to which the test methods apply.
Skills/Experience
  • Good interpersonal skills to deal with staff members and customers in an articulate, effective, courteous and respectful manner.
  • Professional manner in speaking to clients at all levels; following their requests politely and explaining the testing procedure to them should they require verification of methods.

  • Able to work to tight deadlines without supervision. Can use initiative.
