Job Description

B2022 are looking for a Cluster Venue Logistics Manager, to develop, plan, implement and manage the Venue Logistics operations for a specific cluster of competition and non-competition venues. This role will form part of the Logistics leadership team and be required to deliver central projects that may impact all venues and may include supporting on the procurement of resources, contract management of suppliers/partners, planning of special services eg. Arrivals and Departures / Athlete Equipment Distribution. Over time this role will involve line management of assigned Venue Logistics Managers (VLMs).The Logistics Functional Area (FA) is responsible for identifying, scoping, storing, delivering, recovering and disposing the materials required to stage the Games.Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all venue logistics operations and services for their assigned cluster of venues; including providing advice, guidance and leadership on all logistic activities.
  • Lead the overall planning, design, implementation, operation and dissolution of all Logistics operations for their assigned cluster of venues; including the development efficient plans and processes for the receipt, storage, distribution, ongoing supply and recovery of equipment at the venues.
  • Actively participate in venue operational planning and resource scoping sessions with other FAs to gather and record their logistics requirements, ensuring that they can be delivered within the constraints of the project.
  • Collaborate with Logistics workstreams, partners & suppliers and other FAs to develop and maintain an integrated supply chain, detailed delivery schedules (bump in, resupply, transition, bump out, Arrivals and Departures, Athlete Equipment) and an effective operation for each assigned venue whilst identifying cost effective measures for utilising staff and equipment.
  • Develop effective working relationships with the venue overlay and technology team, venue general managers, sport competition managers and other key venue stakeholders.
  • In collaboration with Overlay FA develop the Integrated Venue Timeline to inform detailed bump-in plans and distribution schedules
  • Work in conjunction with Security FA to develop appropriate methods of delivery to and from venues including developing Master Delivery Schedule (MDS), Keys to the Gate protocols, Venue Delivery Guide and associated policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the recruitment, management and leadership of staff, coordinating individual work assignments, setting project goals, evaluating employee performance and determining training requirements. The role holder will be required to line manage up to 5 VLMs.
  • Work collaboratively with the Procurement FA on procurement activities to secure logistics packages eg. FF&E, agency labour, MHE, Utility Vehicles.
  • Skills & Experience Required
  • Previous event experience at a management level / senior venue leadership role in events / logistics management
  • Proven experience of delivering large, multifaceted projects as a lead project manager
  • Demonstrable experience in managing logistics operations in a high-profile environment
  • Understanding of event logistics and supply chain
  • Ability to display effective leadership of a large workforce of staff and contractors
  • Successful delivery of time critical logistics operations within a defined budget
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with an ability to plan and structure the complex workloads of their team
  • Desirable
  • Previous senior Logistics experience with the Commonwealth Games or another international multi-sport will be highly regarded
  • Public sector / logistics packages procurement experience
  • Experience and knowledge of one or more of the following areas:

  • MHE, Crowd Control Barriers, Fuel
