Job Description

Location: Birmingham/remote (hybrid - twice per month)Type: Full-time/PermanentClaims Software Engineer required within a speciality Insurer to develop, implement, and maintain software solutions that enable business operations in order to reach company goals & objectives. The role will involve analysing, designing, coding, debuggingand testing.The role:

  • Working with the Agile Programme Manager, Digital Product Manager, and Business Systems Analyst to accurately capture stakeholder requests and system specifications and translate them into engineering artefacts.
  • Coordinate with Enterprise Architecture and Software Engineering colleagues to ensure that the engineering realization is in accordance with EA principles and software development best practices.
  • As part of an Agile team, complete software development work which includes application design, coding, code review and testing.
  • Manage engineering risks by proactively tracking and communicating issues, and devising methods to mitigating them.
  • Support business units in the resolution of in-depth user questions and issues following production support process and SLAs.
  • Collaborate with IT management to define and develop documentation & engineering artefact standards, guidelines, processes, and templates.
Requirements:
  • Must have practical experience in Java
  • Experience writing and debugging complex SQL queries, working with SSRS, SSIS
  • Knowledge of experience of API design, development and security, including API Gateway configuration - REST, JSON, XML, OAUTH
  • Thorough understanding of CI/CD practices and experience with associated tools - GitHub, GitHub Actions, Docker, Harness, AKS / Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of Snowflake data warehousing
  • Experience of cloud computing - MS Azure
  • Working technical knowledge of Enterprise Data Warehousing, design and development of ETL packages, database design, operating systems and Information Management
  • Claims domain experience.
  • Knowledge and experience using agile software development principles, process and tools.
  • Extensive knowledge of source code change management and related tools.
