Responsibilities:
  • Acting as a point of contact for all aspects of health and safety and CDM compliance.
  • Applying CDM and H&S knowledge to ensure compliance and positive CDM outcomes.
  • Ensuring that Avovecomplies with the responsibilities of the Principal Designer under the CDM 2015 Regulations.
  • Establishing and being directly responsible for a small team of PD’s operating across the business. This will likely require a blend of a small number of dedicated PD’s yet to be appointed supplemented by existing internal PD’s who will be made availableby agreement with their respective line managers on a project-by-project basis
  • Assessment of internal PD competence and provision of training to plug any gaps
  • Day to day assistance to PDs as required.
  • Developing a robust/flexible CDM process appropriate to the differing workstreams within Avove.
  • Preparing CDM documentation, pre-construction information and health and safety plans and files
  • Attending regular design team/ project team meetings & contributing on health & safety aspects.
  • Visiting sites and carrying out appraisals to establish existing hazards and site restrictions
  • Carrying out reviews and audits with the design and construction teams and co-ordinating health and safety matters
  • Ensuring that designers have established safe methods for construction of unusual or complex designs and making this available as part of the pre-construction information
  • Representing the company in a professional and diligent manner; meeting, negotiating, and corresponding with clients to form strong working relationshipsOrganising and chairing CDM workshops where applicable
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with others within the Avove HSEQ teams and contribute to working initiatives where required, where value can be added
Skills & Experience:
  • Working knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations.
  • Minimum of 5 years PD experience
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or Construction Certificate or working towards is desirable but not essential.
  • IOSH Membership desirable (minimum Associate’ level)
  • Well-organised, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined and commercially astute
  • A team player with a can-do’ attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful, and flexible
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and able to build good working relationships
  • Strong organisational and time management skills in the delivery of the services for multiple projects at any one time.
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders.
  • Keen to further oneself professionally (CPD).
  • Delivery of work outputs to time, cost and quality.
  • Commitment, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic.
  • Strong IT capabilities including working experience of Microsoft Office & TEAMS.
  • Utility industry experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Full driving license and your own vehicle.
