Category Advisor - IT£30,368 - £32,950Birmingham, Leeds or BristolFull Time, PermanentYour new roleThe IT Commercial team are responsible for all technology related procurement across the organisation; from systems and software that we need to do our jobs, user devices and internet access, to operational roadside technology that allows Highways England to manage its network. Join the IT Commercial team at the beginning of their journey to transform from a traditional procurement team into fully fledged end to end category management!As a Category Advisor you will take on a role key to the success of the team by providing effective support across all IT Procurement and Commercial activities. This is an active and varied role where you will take ownership of drafting small-scale business cases, tracking procurement activities, highlighting risks and proposing solutions, dealing with supplier queries and administering bespoke IT systems to maintain supplier records.An understanding of Category Management principles and the Procurement life cycle are important as you will be interfacing with a range of suppliers and internal stakeholders to offer support to colleagues throughout the end to end category management lifecycle. The role would suit an individual with great attention to detail and the ability to translate data insights into tangible intelligence as the role offers the opportunity for you to add insight and drive process improvement through intelligence gained through your activities, contributing to the strategic objectives of the IT Commercial team.As a flexible working organisation, we are pleased to offer the role from any of the following Highways England offices: Lateral Leeds, The Cube Birmingham or Temple Quay House Bristol.This is an exciting time to join the team at the beginning of their journey where you will have the opportunity to be part of transformational activity critical to ensuring Highways England delivers the best value for its customers.What youll be doing* Responsible for working closely with project teams and IT Commercial colleagues in order to provide effective procurement support to meet the needs of colleagues and the organisation. * Support development and delivery of Procurement documentation, including post-procurement requirements.* Manage tender queries from suppliers and the business over email or phone and answer questions and provide advice where possible, escalating when needed. * Draft small-scale business cases, or contribute towards larger business cases, providing technical advice and presenting in a clear concise way to achieve the required needs and achieve buy in from stakeholders * Responsible for administering IT systems (i.e. Bravo, Award and Oracle) in order to keep records up to date to support the effective tracking of disputes and resolutions with suppliers, including bespoke systems used by Highways England* Manage reporting of resources; planning; forecasting; and monitoring against budget in order to inform decision making * Track procurement activities for projects in order to highlight any potential risk to the business, providing options of solutions in order to resolve and issues as and when they ariseTo be successful* You will have an understanding of Category Management principles* You will have a proven track-record of interpreting data and making logical connections to inform/improve delivery* You will have a proven track-record of using IT systems with the aptitude to learn new systems* You actively build, maintain and nurture relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and manage stakeholder relationships effectively* Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) Diploma is advantageous but not essential - we offer the opportunity to become CIPS qualified through our bespoke training programme so a willingness to become qualified is desirableA bit about usTheres never been a better time to join our Commercial and Procurement team.
