Reporting directly to the Head of Purchasing UK, they will play a key role in supporting the UK purchasing team in identifying and delivering purchasing pipeline savings projectsthat have a direct effect on key company objectives.BuyerJob Description

• Identify pipeline savings of 2% per quarter or in line with plant objectives
• Manage purchasing spend (excluding intercompany) of over $ 30 million. Ensure efforts are coordinated with the UK Metals & Forgings Group sites to gain maximum leverage
• Actively seek new sources of supply to meet existing and future material and capital purchases
• Act as local commodity lead for assigned group contracts (e.g. Abrasive belts) and participate as an active member of the negotiating team.
• Negotiate binding contracts to support capital equipment purchases. Ensure contract terms are in place and liaise with Legal counsel where required.
• Act as the commercial subject matter expert for the local management team and attend reviews to provide advice and support to facilitate tactical and strategic decisions.
• Process all MRO purchase orders and assist with stores purchases where required
• Capable of troubleshooting delayed deliveries and issues that are presented, overcoming challenges and not accepting delays, through the use of various expediting techniques.
• Ensure all enquiries and contracts are issued and agreed in accordance with business guidelines
• Enforce the business code of conduct in all commercial relationships
• Review supplier terms and conditions to identify and resolve areas of conflict
• Liaise with Accounts Payable Team, requisitioners and suppliers, in cases of invoice/ payment queries
• Maintain departmental metricssavings, stock outs, stock accuracy, orders processed, variable cost forecast and delivery performance.
• Ensure payment terms for suppliers are in line with business policy or gain approval for non-standard terms
• Investigate quality complaints from internal customers and instigate corrective actions as necessary
• Carry out commercial audits of potential new vendors
• Identify potential customers for sale of assigned waste commodities
• Raise sales orders as required for the sale of mixed metals
• Identify areas of non-value-added activity and suggest changes to processes to eliminate waste
• Keep abreast of current market trends for new products and services. Investigate potential new suppliers to determine their ability to furnish products or services

BuyerEssential Qualifications / Experience / Skills

• Worked in an aerospace / engineering manufacturing environment in a similar roleminimum 5 years experience
• A good understanding of technical design and drawings
• Proven Negotiator capable of delivering results

BuyerDesirable Qualifications / Experience / Skills

• Degree qualified in a related subject

• CIPS qualified
• Experience generating formal tender documents and contracts (Contract Law)
• Global / European sourcing with experience of managing diverse supplier base
