Job Description

RSR Police is a market leading recruitment business dedicated to supplying experienced practitioners on a temporary, contractual or permanent basis to the Law Enforcement, Cyber Security, Offender Management and Regulatory Services talent markets.RSR Police are currently recruiting for a Business Analyst for be based in Birmingham as a part of team within a specialist area of policing. The role of the Business Analyst is to articulate business change needs, assess the impact of those changes, capture, analyse and document requirements and then support the communication, progress and delivery of those requirements to the Project Manager and all relevant stakeholders.This role is a fixed term contract role for 2 years with an annual salary of £42,783 working Monday to Friday office hours. There will be a mix of office and remote working for this post with an office location in central Birmingham. This role will include occasional travel through our the West Midlands and in the neighbouring police force areas.Main Duties:

  • To work across the entire change portfolio and articulate business change needs, assess the impact of those changes, then capture, analyse and document requirements.
  • Support the communication, progress and delivery of those requirements to the Project Manager and all relevant stakeholders.
  • To support the Business Architecture Manager in undertaking reviews of business functions to design new elements of the operating model, ensuring alignment with the organisational operating model and developments in IT systems.
  • To conduct process optimisation exercises to identify areas of waste, value and improvements to ensure most efficient and effective use of resources whilst providing best value service to the customer.
  • Undertaking the methodical investigation, analysis and documentation of Business functions, processes and the information used
  • Collecting, understanding and transmitting the business requirements for the project, and translating these into functional specifications and detailed test plans
  • Document workflows and results of business analysis and obtain sign off from the customer on the specifications
  • Work in partnership with West Midlands Police colleagues and outside agencies to provide advice and guidance on business processes and financial/technical procedures in support of the force’s purpose, goals and objectives
  • Provide the link between the customer, development team and any 3rd party regarding software functionality throughout the development lifecycle
  • Where necessary, plan and guide the delivery of small/medium sized projects overseeing the work of in-house teams or contractors.
  • Business test solutions and resolve relatively complex problems and issues through their own skills and/or liaison with different departments or third party suppliers
  • Assess and recommend software and hardware products to meet business requirements and customer expectations
  • Develop AS IS and TO BE states for business processes and operating model designs which provide recommendations for sign off by the Head of Business Architecture and the business function lead.
  • Essential Requirements:
  • Business Analysis, information Modelling and business process modelling: Knowledge and experience of using various tools and techniques to help understand and document a business and its operation across all areas of the operating model (people, processes, locations, systems, partners, information, performance metrics)
  • End to end experience of project lifecycle with proven experience of interacting directly with end users
  • Information capture Techniques: The selection, application and successful use of information gathering methods, tools and techniques that are appropriate to the information required and the sources available
  • ISEB BCS Diploma (or suitable evidence and experience to demonstrate capability)
  • Demonstrable evidence of the use of continuous improvement / process optimisation tools and techniques
  • Demonstrable evidence of analysis skills and documenting complex business processes, both in the AS IS and TO BE state.
  • Ability to understand the strategic aims and objectives of the organisation and be able to work at a strategic level with Chief Officers and other senior members of staff
  • Strong numerical and verbal critical reasoning ability in order to think strategically, logically and clearly, and to take rational decisions and decisive action under pressure
  • Results orientated with good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good presentation skills - both written and verbal
  • Possesses a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrable evidence of problem solving skills for both simple and complex problems
  • Experienced and competent in the use of MS Office applications (specifically Sharepoint, Visio, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
