Job Description

SummarySalary: £34,788.84 Grade: 2BContract Type: PermanentLocation: Birmingham CVITClosing Date: 23rd August 2023The Purpose of the Role

  1. To lead, motivate and support the frontline team in the site, whilst effectively managing performance against key performance indicators and delivering excellent customer service and experience.
  2. To ensure that Post Office Supply Chain remains compliant, safe, secure and legal in the completion of the operation and to positively contribute to the business bottom line, by challenging costs and driving excellent engagement.
Principal Accountabilities
  • The management of the day to day operation on site, enabling the smooth transition of the operation, resolving any day to day issues, monitoring inbound/outbound consignments and ensuring excellent customer service is delivered to our customers. Througheffective management of the indoor and outdoor team.
  • Deliver training and key communications to our teams to ensure that they are fully informed of what is required and of all relevant business information and changes that impact on their roles and responsibilities and enable a great place to work for allcolleagues.
  • To undertake crew performance reviews and to be honest and open where performance needs to be improved and take steps with team members to deliver improvement in performance and to recognise excellent performance where it is given, ensuring that recognitionis given and identifying best practice and learning that can be deployed.
  • To ensure that vehicles are regularly cleaned and serviced in accordance to our fleet maintenance plans whilst ensuring sufficient resources are available to carry out all customer dependencies. This enables great service and excellent vehicle performanceto be delivered.
  • Where performance falls below the required standard and where incidents requiring of investigation takes place, the Shift Manager will be the first line of the business conduct code, initiating fact finding interviews and where necessary issuing informaldecision as appropriate and where more serious, passes these up to the Depot/Operations Manager for further consideration.
  • To undertake and manage all aspects of the opening and closedown of the site, ensuring that all security protocols and procedures are observed, whilst ensuring the safety of the team at all times.
  • The undertaking of all vehicle administration tasks and to ensure that the vehicles have up to date and accurate records at all times and to work with the Transport Manager on areas identified for improvement.
  • To ensure that Annual Leave, Attendance Management and people administration processes are implemented fairly and to timescale across the operation as per business instructions.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with any specific legislative, regulatory, or contractual requirements.
Qualifications, Experience & SkillsKnowledge required
  • Line Management of a frontline team and a fleet of vehicles.
  • EU and Domestic transport regulations and deployment.
  • Business Policies, process and procedures.
  • The ability to produce and deploy local plans.
Experience required

  • Basic Health and Safety principals and the safety of the team and self.
