We also have specialised relationship managers who support customers with bespoke requirements, including high net worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients.Retail Banking exists to:Create world class propositions, products and services that delight our customers and help UK Wealth and Personal Banking achieve our shared ambitionDeliver sustainable growth alongside a balanced approach to protecting customers and the bank through an effective risk management frameworkDrive innovative solutions that are market leading but at the same time simple, valued and personable.The role - We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Assistant Product Manager - Mortgages.The Secured Lending team is part Retail Banking, and has responsibility for the mortgage portfolios of HSBC and First Direct, representing over £100bn in balances across the ring-fenced and non-ring-fenced bank.The role sits within the Mortgage Pricing Team where the successful candidate will support the management of HSBC and First Direct mortgage pricing. A key focus from the outset is to utilise your mortgage knowledge and analytical capabilities to make informedpricing decisions. This is against a backdrop of delivering consistently good outcomes for customers whilst maximising commercial opportunities and minimising risk for the bank. The role holder will work with various departments including Analytics, Finance,Treasury, Credit Risk, Mortgage Operations, and Legal and Compliance teams to ensure that the business best utilises the extensive suite of mortgage data to deliver value and support run the banks mortgage activities.Working collaboratively with colleagues across the business, the role holder is required to role model customer-centricity, driving service excellence and offering products and services that meet customer needs. The team also has a responsibility to protectthe business by adhering to regulatory and reputational responsibilities, against a backdrop of delivering consistently good outcomes for customers whilst maximising commercial opportunities and minimising risk for the bankIn this role, you will:Ensuring the Mortgage product lines (HSBC, First Direct) hit their combined P&L and balance sheets financial targets, facilitated through the development of beautiful digital journeys.Become a data focused SME within Mortgage Products providing accurate and on-going product and pricing insights. Assist in the management of insights dashboards used to monitor the mortgage product portfolio against agreed performance indicators and effectivelycommunicate insights to stakeholders.Take part in a range of analytical tasks for the team to support proposition enhancements and business growth objectives.Balance growth priorities with the risk agenda, to ensure that we grow our business in a sustainable way.Work collaboratively with the wider Mortgage Product team to ensure the best outcomes for our customers and the business.Successfully manage high volume and high importance activities to demanding timescales for the Mortgage Product Team.Demonstrate Awareness of the internal governance processes and regulatory requirements associated with a pricing roleServe key stakeholders by providing strategic direction and thought leadership to support them in driving revenue performance, encouraging collaboration, accountability and ownership.Help develop new processes which reflect a deep understanding of customer and broker needs.Support the review of mortgage policies and procedures, as well as the review and management of regulatory and mandatory mortgage documentation.Highly numerical with a knowledge of data analytics and interpretation. Experience working with large data sets in Excel and presenting in an easily interpreted manor is essential.Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of mortgages is desired. Understanding of the UK Mortgage market and issues affecting it.Basic understanding of macro-economic environment.Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. Product Management / Financial Services / Pricing is desired.Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. WPB / Retail Banking, or external Product experience is essential.Proven ability to deliver customer focused change in a way that balances commercial and regulatory considerations.It would be advantageous to have prior experience using software packages such as SAS, Python, SQL or VBAThe role is hybrid and would require you to work from either of these locations - Birmingham, Leeds, Sheffield, Swansea or Hamilton.HSBC is committed to being an inclusive employer and providing an inclusive and accessible recruitment process for all.
