Job Description

Join us on the Journey... We have an exciting opportunity to join our Runcorn Road Depot as an Assistant Operations Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Operations Manager in managing a team of drivers and operational staff that keep the garage running. They will alsodeliver an efficient and reliablebus service through effective leadership, teamwork and control of resources.What youll do...

  • Manage the Operations Supervisors including holiday, absence, individual development plans and conduct, and coordinate activities to ensure the provision of a reliable, high quality bus service.
  • Ensure all drivers are safe and fit to be at workat all times.
  • Demonstrate effective oversight of driverperformance,and continuously ensuringeffective management of drivers and theirperformance is being applied.
  • Ensure all accidents (road or personal injuries and employers liability) are recorded as per Company procedure and comprehensively investigated and attend major incidents outside of normal working hours where required.
  • Monitor the performance of electronic equipment i.e. CCTV, DriveCam, vehicle tablets - ensuring any problems or suggestions are reported, accurate records are kept, and repairs and servicing are conducted.
  • Deputise for the Operations Manager as necessary.
What youll need:
  • Relevant NVQ Level 2 is essential (eg in Transport Road Passenger Operations).
  • Good understanding of the road passenger transport sector, including all relevantvehicles.legal and external regulations and requirements for the operation of passenger carrying
  • Excellent working knowledge of all daily site procedures, health and safetyregulations, employment legislation, and people management practices
  • Experience in managing and motivating a team to achieve high standards ofperformance in a unionised environment
  • Flexible approach to working hours – able to attend out-of-hours external meetingson an occasional basis and respond quickly to any “on-call” requirements.
  • Thorough appreciation of the needs of external customers and external stakeholders,
  • coupled with the ability to identify areas for improvement and implement effective action

  • ILM Level 2 – Team Leading
  • Willingness to work towards ILM Level 3 – Effective Management
  • Willingness to work towards managers’ National CPC qualification
  • Mental Health and Disability Awareness trained
  • IOSH trained
