Are you ready to develop and lead the Communications strategy for West Midlands Police and ready for an exciting and challenging new roleWest Midlands Police are seeking an Assistant Director Corporate Communications, which is an opportunity based in central Birmingham and offered on a permanent full time basis.The Communications function has a key role to play in supporting front line policing, in delivering this and with your expertise, commitment and dedication, youll thrive in this senior role and help to realise our ambitions whilst promoting the forces values.About the roleAs Assistant Director Corporate Communications, you will lead and develop a credible and professional communications function that proactively and tactically manages all internal and external corporate communications, influences and shapes the future strategy of corporate comms, develops and implements best practice communications and creates a high standard of capability throughout the function. In addition you will ensure value and commerciality through your decision making.The role requires you to act as the forces chief spokesperson and be the strategic lead and head of profession on internal & external communications, Freedom of Information, awards and events and the development of the force museum.As head of profession you will be accountable for providing strategic advice & guidance to the Chief Constable, Deputy Chief Constable, other members of the Executive Team and senior leaders across the force on the full range of communication issues and national/policing sector developments. In addition, you will manage the profile of the Chief Constable, Deputy Chief Constable and other Executive officers.Essentially you will understand politics and dynamics of broader external issues and advise and deliver on WMP strategy whilst finding innovative ways to drive forward a positive reputation; both as an employer and as a public service, utilising relationships with colleagues across the departments.About you You will be able to demonstrate your substantial knowledge and experience of:
