Job Description

Established in 2006 PerfectHome is a household goods retailer that offers top quality products to customers through flexible weekly, fortnightly or monthly payment options.Were looking for an Assistant Buyer to join our Purchasing Department. Based at our office in Eagle Court in Sheldon, Birmingham.Reporting to the Head of Purchasing, the Assistant Buyer is responsible for maximising profits and provide a commercially viable range of merchandise at competitive prices. This is a fantastic opportunity within our Electrical and Appliance categories for an Assistant Buyer. Youll work on a range of categories including mobile, tablets, computing, gaming, SDA and floorcare. We have big plans for electrical, with ambitious growth targets and plans to onboard even more brands to sit alongside some of our big branded names; Apple, Samsung, Sony. The role will allow you to further develop your skills with dual specialisms of buying and merchandising, sharpen up your trading skills and hone your commercial knowledge along the way too!Duties and Responsibilities:Assisting in regularly reviewing stock, sales and orders and react with necessary urgency to ensure sales, stock andprofit targets are achieved.Build good supplier relationships by being a key contact for day to day supplier related issues to support the marketing functionAssisting in seasonal range plan development by analysing customer buying patterns, forecasting sales and predicting future trendsParticipating in promotional activities, helping the purchasing teams to identify slow moving stock, suggesting mark downs or promotions, as well as coordinating promotions and clearance events onlineWork with the buying team to source, setup and market new products and ranges.Managing the critical path, monitoring all orders from initial product development through to delivery, ensuring the smooth running of the development process, maintaining delivery schedules and key deadlines throughoutWork cross functionally with Marketing and Suppliers to enhance our digital executionLiaising with other departments within the organisation to ensure projects are completeAssist the Purchase Administrator in their role and cover during periods of absence as and when required.Cover any additional tasks relating to the Purchasing department as and when required to by the Head of PurchasingUnderstand KPIs and their drivers and take action to support delivery of budgets and quarterly planEssential skills, knowledge and experience:1-2 years’ experience in a similar Assistant Buyer position within a commercial service sector environment with a continuous improvement/change management cultureExcellent interpersonal skills and a team playerThe ability to work on own initiative and work under pressure with good time management skillsExcellent Working knowledge of MS Office, Email, Excel DatabaseGood communication and organisational skillsPrevious experience of working for a multi- channel retailer as an assistant buyerFlexible approach to working with peopleHigh level of accuracy and attention to detail is essentialNegotiation skillsDesirable skills, knowledge and experience:Previous experience of working in this or a similar sectorMeasures/ Competencies:Employee satisfactionCustomer satisfactionCommunication skillsAccurate record keepingWorking with othersProblem solvingTime ManagementBenefits:Excellent OTE opportunitiesContributory pension scheme25 days holiday entitlement, increasing with service to a maximum of 30 days (pro rata for part-time employees)Your birthday off, every year!Enhanced Maternity and Paternity Policies (subject to qualifying conditions)Company sick pay (subject to scheme rules)Gym membershipPerkboxPerkbox Medical
