Job Description

Area Sales Manager - Flooring & Contract CarpetsJob Title: Area Sales Manager - Flooring & Contract CarpetsIndustry Sector: A&D, Architects and Interior Designers, Flooring Contractors & Flooring DistributorsArea to be covered: West Midlands, South West & South WalesRemuneration: £45,000 + 1%-1.5% uncapped commissionBenefits: Fully expensed Car & Full BenefitsThe role of the Area Sales Manager Flooring & Interior Products will involve:

  • Field sales position selling a manufactured range of contract carpet tiles
  • Initially the majority of your time will be spent account managing circa 120 direct flooring contractor relationships and key A&D architect and interior designers (predominantly based near Birmingham and Bristol)
  • Ultimately spending 50% of your time with A&D architect & interior designers, end users and main contractors, 30% with flooring contractors and 20% with key distributors
  • Inheriting a new area created by combining the West Midlands and South West patchs
  • Responsible for a territory that is performing well against budget, with a turnover of approx £750,000
  • Typical commercial projects includes; schools, colleges and office buildings (heavily education orientated)
  • Project sizes from 100m2-10,000m2 (typical projects between 1,000m2-2,000m2 and £10-£11 per square metre)
  • Specification projects won through architects, interior designers A&D are currently 40% new builds and 60% refurbishments
The ideal applicant will be an Area Sales Manager Flooring & Interior Products with:
  • Must have a proven field sales track record within the interior building products industry, ideally flooring
  • Ability to hit the ground running with flooring contractors and distributors
  • A&D architect and interior design specification sales experience is preferred
  • Contacts with flooring contractors is not required
  • Ideally with knowledge of contract carpet tiles/ contract flooring
  • Highly self-motivated, team player (absolutely crucial)
  • Ideally some educational sector experience
  • Strong presentation/ CPD experience
  • Ability to negotiate at all levels
