Job Description

A great new opportunity has come to market for an Account Handler - Real Estate and Construction working for a leading Independent Chartered insurance Broker who aim to provide innovative insurance solutions for all its clients needs.This role is based in our clients Birmingham City Centre Office.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Account Executives and Directors to provide highest standard service to customers.
  • Secure and arrange appropriate cover at renewal at a competitive premium, completing all relevant documentation/computer work and hand over to relevant Account Executive/Director (if an allocated case).
  • Take instructions relating to the provision of insurance cover from clients and Account Executives when appropriate.
  • Give instructions to insurers.
  • Ensure mid-term adjustments and declarations are processed and records updated.
  • Maintain appropriate rating spreadsheets, calculate additional and return premiums and understand competitive market rating.
  • Handle the invoicing of all premiums due.
  • Check all documentation (ie, policies and endorsements) for accuracy prior to sending to client.
  • Obtain quotations for any relevant new policies/renewals.
  • Be conversant with Company Procedures manual and the requirements of the FCA and to implement and maintain procedures as stipulated.
  • Be aware of market conditions and the strengths and weaknesses of competitors.
  • Visits to customers were agreed with the Account Executive.
  • Monitor trends, analyse results, and prepare feedback to senior staff.
Knowledge RequiredExcellent knowledge of
  • All classes of business offered by the Recon Division with reference to appropriate experts when the cover falls outside your own experience.
  • Good knowledge of other classes of business.
  • The insurance markets available.
  • General insurance and underlying legal principals.
  • All company specific procedures.
  • The regulatory requirements of general insurance in operation at any time.
  • FCA regulations and guidelines relating to commercial customers.
  • Willingness to continue to develop knowledge of products and related issues through formal and informal learning, both internally and externally.
Skills Required
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) that are effective and meet business needs.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise own workload.
  • Excellent team working skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Ability to apply own judgement and experience when making decisions or speaking to clients and at the same time, knowing when to refer to an appropriate expert.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
