Job Description

Simon Acres Recruitment are working with a leading Plumbers merchant in the Merseyside area who are looking to add an experienced Transport & Warehouse Manager to their team.Your main duties will include:

  • Work with the General Manager, Transport team, Regional and Area Inventory Managers, Operational and Sales colleagues and Distribution Centre to deliver an excellent order and delivery service for customers, ensuring we can deliver the Customer Promise
  • Through the Transport Supervisor, manage the transport/sales order process ensuring all order tickets are transferred from the allocation board to the whiteboard, ensuring orders are printed, picked, loaded and delegated to the relevant driver terminals,whilst ensuring transport planning and compliance is fulfilled at all times
  • Through the Transport Supervisor, manage transport and delivery schedules including driver breaks, and temporary cover at times of absence, holiday etc., to provide optimum customer service, within current legislation. Manage the use of agency workers,however, ensuring that this is kept to an absolute minimum
  • Ensure all commercial vehicle maintenance is managed, including MHE and Lorries, and daily defect reporting is actioned
  • Analyse performance against appropriate KPIs making recommendations re any action required to General Manager or Head of Transport
  • Ensure that the Warehouse operation is run to a high standard of housekeeping and product stocked to maximise warehouse capacity and optimise stock requirement (as per stock ranging and management business requirements), ensuring all health, safety andenvironmental standards are implemented and adhered to
The successful candidate will have:
  • A background in an operational / logistics role
  • Experience managing staff across diverse departments and operating in a multi-faceted role is essential
  • An FLT licence (preferable not essential)
  • An understanding and experience within the plumbing and heating sector
In return our client is offering:
  • A basic salary of £34,000 per annum
  • A highly competitive profit share bonus
