Acorn Recruitment is searching for a Machine Operator to join our client, a large manufacturer based in Birkenhead. The purpose of the role is to ensure that all equipment on the department is operated correctly and efficiently, whilst carrying out appropriate frontline maintenance to maintain and improve the equipment performance and maximise product output whilst maintaining product quality.Duties will include:- Setting up and maintaining all line machinery at the beginning of the shift, this includes calibrating weight beds and completing timely checks on production processs including label and metal detection checks and monitoring these throughout the shift, packaging preparation and running up lines. - Ensuring the machinery is adjusted to the required setting for each specific job on the plan.- Keeping areas stocked with consumables.- Ensure the machines and line runs to optimum efficiency by investigating downtime and ensuring corrective action taken. Carry out PPM Tasks. - Proactively identify and resolve any issues in the department and its machines to ensure they are resolved in a timely manner. - Ensure understanding of KPIs to enable you to work towards these as both an individual and encouraging the team to meet these with support from the Line Leader. - Endeavour to keep waste levels to an absolute minimum and continuously work to reduce these levels.- Overseeing department activity, by ensuring all aspects of the area are running at the correct pace.- Cleaning and maintaining machinery and work areas to be at a high standard at all times.- Adhering to the sites Food Safety, HACCP, QA and Hygiene Standards whilst also carrying out safety checks as required- Attend daily meetings when required or in the absence of the Line Leader.The successful candidate must have previous work experience within a similar role in a production environment. Must be a proactive self-starter with a good mechanical background.The ability to work hard with minimal supervision is essential. Hours of work are 5 days out of 7.
