Job Description

Family Support Worker (Part Time, Contract)Runcorn, Cheshire (office/field based, covering Runcorn)The OrganisationCaritas Diocese of Shrewsbury is a leading provider of high-quality social care and family support for children, families, and communities.We are now seeking a Family Support Worker to join our team in Runcorn on a part-time basis, working 14 hours per week. We aim to build stronger, supportive communities wherever there is disadvantage and live by our values of community, family, diversity, dignity, partnership and being welcoming.The RoleAs a Family Support Worker, you will provide a high-quality Family Support Service in Runcorn, principally across Palace Fields, Castlefields and Murdishaw.Working as part of our Support Team, you will operate in partnership and directly engage with local families and communities who are experiencing difficulties in their life.Specifically, you will:- Identify and build on family strengths- Improve self-esteem- Increase levels of confidence- Encourage participation in the wider community- Signpost services which enhance quality of life- Reduce anti-social or unhealthy, risk-taking behaviour and improve mental healthAbout YouTo be considered as a Family Support Worker, you will need:- Sound knowledge of Child/Vulnerable Adult Safeguarding and Protection procedures- Experience of working with children, young people and adults affected by other life issues including abuse, addiction, depression and anger- English Language and Mathematics GCSEs or equivalent at Grade C or above- An NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Children’s Work, Community or a related discipline- To be flexible and have competent IT skills- A full driving licence and the use of a vehicle that is insured for business purposeOther organisations may call this role Support Worker, Community Support Worker, Mental Health Support Worker, Mental Health Worker, Women’s Support Worker, Early Years Support Worker, Young People Support Worker, Social Care Worker, Child Support Worker, Children’s Advocate, or Women’s Advocate.This is a part-time role working 14 hours per week.The closing date for the role is the 14th March 2020.Webrecruit and Caritas Diocese of Shrewsbury are equal opportunities employers, value diversity and are strongly committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all employees and all applicants for employment.
