Engineer position with a mechanical / aerospace bias for a global manufacturing company. The organisation is currently going through an exciting period of positive change, and this opportunity is based in the Aerospace business.DescriptionThe role of an Engineering Graduate is to be responsible for supporting Engineering team activities in support of; new product development, upgrades and modifications to existing products, and in-service support thereafter. A primary focus for the role, is providing engineering knowhow to achieve safe and fully certified product designs that meet the exacting requirements/standards of Survitec customers.This is an interesting opportunity for an early careers Engineer. You will get the chance to develop your engineering skills; including product design engineering and test, product safety, new product development/introduction, exposure to project management and the full range of project life-cycle stages.· Responsible for supporting all engineering efforts for a complex project or project(s) on time and within budget· Supporting role to review customer specifications and requirements and assist project team to develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable· Support the Engineering team to ensure design compliance with all project requirements which including safety requirements· Support and participate in FMECA and Hazard Identification workshops· Support and attend design reviews· Support and coordinate integration & test activities. Interact with test laboratories as necessary to experimentally prove new product developments· Support the transition of new products into production· Maintain engineering notes, models, records, calculations, and analyses that demonstrate the progression of the product designs.· Engage in cost estimates for prototype and production parts, support building a business case for product development activities.· Evaluate, define and resolve design and manufacturing problems.Profile· Must be a Graduate or higher - Masters and PhD would be highly desirable - in a relevant field.· Must have has some level of exposure to system modelling during study.· Exposure to system modelling (MBSE) tools would also be highly advantageous.· Must be a good problem solver with a good grasp of mathematics.· Ability to work at pace and pursue opportunities to add value.· Effective communication skills.. Proactively anticipate and identify potential problems on new products and concepts and develop good corrective actions by following a rigorous problem-solving process.· An Undergraduate degree, Postgraduate degree, or PhD in a relevant engineering subject.· Be competent in SolidWorks/AutoCAD (or similar) and in Microsoft Office packages.· Experience using 3D design.· Have strong analytical skills and be technically proficient.. The successful candidate will also be able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.. Preferably you will have a mechanical, aerospace or textiles engineering background but other strong candidates will also be considered..
