Job Description

Our client, a fantastic legal firm have a brilliant opportunity available for an experienced Personal Injury Solicitor with management experience to join their Technical team. The role is currently remotely based however will be office based in 2021 - Wirral.Overview

  • To manage the performance of the Court Diary and Advocacy Team
  • To manage the performance of the Court Diary staff ensuring Court directions/timetables and Orders and processed in a timely manner in line with KPIs
  • To manage and supervise staff and providing mentoring and training as necessary
  • To ensure that all necessary steps are taken within the team to ensure Court hearing dates and directions are recorded on the firms case management system
  • To manage and monitor the firms advocacy function providing technical advice and guidance as and when necessary
  • To ensure that all internal briefs are prepared and delivered to the advocates in advance of any hearing
  • To manage and oversee the firms Court Diary ensuring appropriate cover is in place for all hearings
  • To carry out and perform RTWs, 1:1s, manage and monitor team holidays and provide general managerial support and guidance within the Court Diary Team
  • To assist the Head of Technical with interviewing, training and general support
  • To be able to motivate, lead and manage the court diary and advocacy team performances maximising potential savings for firm
  • Managing and monitoring the advocacy service provided by any external suppliers
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the court diary and advocacy teams
  • Ensure any business and team objectives are met
  • Be accountable for the team as against agreed KPIs
  • Conduct monthly /quarterly and /or annual 1-2-1 meetings/quarterly reviews for the team
  • To provide effective people management of the team and drive the right behaviours
  • To ensure that the team is achieving the right outcome for fee earners and optimising revenue.
  • To ensure that any SLA are complied with
  • To manage resourcing and workloads across the team
  • To ensure understanding and compliance with internal SLAs, policies and procedures
  • To review best practice across the team, and implement any changes as and when needed in conjunction with the Head of Technical
  • To provide full supervisory support and guidance on technical issues
  • To ensure any IT developments are appropriately implemented
  • Ensure the team delivers an excellent level of service
  • To highlight any potential risks to the Head of Technical
  • Keep up to date with all industry changes including case law, legislation and other matters of relevance
  • Liaise with the Head of Technical and/or HR regarding any staff issues
  • Handle complaints in accordance with the firm’s internal Complaints Procedure
  • To undertake any other tasks as deemed relevant and reasonable by the business
  • Compliance with audit requirements
  • Requirements Experience & Knowledge
  • A solicitor or Barrister with at least 5 years’ case handling experience in the personal injury sector
  • Previous Portal handling experience would be preferable
  • Must have technical knowledge and ability
  • Ability to compile and analyse data and take action according to the results
  • Commercially minded, and able to see opportunities to optimise outcomes on cases, both for the fee earners and the firm generally
  • Previous management experience is essential
  • Ability to provide clear direction and take accountability for the team’s performance and objectives
  • Competent working with a case management system and good knowledge of MS Office
