Job Description

This high school, based in Birkenhead, is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and ambitious Communications Office to oversee and develop the schools communication and marketing strategy.Communications OfficerBirkenhead, CH42 6RR

  • Part time (25 - 30 hours per week), permanent
  • Salary Band G-H: £27,344 - £34,723
  • Actual salary, based on 25 hours over 39 weeks: £16,406 - £20,833
Please Note: Applicants must be authorised to work in the UKAbout the role:The governors are hiring for a Communications Officer to be responsible for the schools communications and marketing strategy. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to demonstrate the schools vision, values and strengths so that existingand prospective stakeholders understand the benefits of choosing the school.Key responsibilities:As Communications Officer, your key duties will include, but are not limited to the following:Marketing:
  • Enhance the schools brand through a variety of public relations activities
  • Attract new students to the school by developing and delivering an effective school marketing strategy
  • Develop and manage project-specific awareness campaigns, liaising with external partners where relevant (e.g. National Careers Week, National Apprenticeships Week, public health)
  • Develop and manage the school website, releasing clear, engaging and accessible content
  • Produce print and digital resources for teaching staff to support curriculum delivery (e.g. Careers, Learning for Life, Student Engagement, Sports Leaders)
  • Design promotional and communications materials for opportunities, events and achievements (e.g. open events, awards evenings)
  • Produce design briefs and manage the production of externally-produced print and publications
Communications:
  • Develop and manage the schools social media channels
  • Copywriting: produce creative, well-written material (and edit copy written by others) for a variety of media
  • Plan, film, direct and edit school videos featuring staff and students
  • Create animation films for events e.g. awards evenings, staff training
  • Manage events booking and data collection
  • Work collaboratively and provide advice on best practices where needed to school colleagues and partner organisations
  • Maintain and manage a well-catalogued photographic library for promotional use
  • Photograph key events, liaising with staff and students to gather relevant details for the website, social media and other promotional material
About you:You will be flexible and confident working in a fast-paced busy environment where you will need to multi-task and meet strict deadlines. You will have excellent interpersonal and networking skills and a creative approach to reaching new and existing audiences.The ideal candidate will also have experience in creating, using and editing content via different communication channels (social media, web, email etc).
