Job Description

My client is currently recruiting for an experienced Assembly Fitter with knowledge of Valves and Hydraulics to work as part of their fantastic team, based in Birkenhead. This is a temporary, ongoing position with the potentialto turn permanent for the right person.Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:15am-3:45pm with a 12:15 early finish on a Friday.Pay will increase when training is successfully completed.The key aim of this role is to safely dismantle rail equipment ensuring key parts are not damaged.

  • Overhaul, repair, assemble and test a variety of equipment, including warranty returns, refurbished and new: calipers, actuators, discs, couplers, brake control equipment, etc.
  • Build test installations in line with test specifications and schematics. Operate the same, interpreting results and adjusting units to required settings to achieve required outputs
  • Where equipment does not achieve required outputs, does not fit together, etc. investigate, fault find and diagnose likely causes and where possible correct the fault.
  • Work on own initiative or as part of a team within a dedicated team of fitters working to production deadlines.
  • Operate monitoring, measuring and diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform tasks within the assembly areas
  • To be flexible and work in any assembly area
  • Undertake any necessary training
  • Ensure quality requirements are met by working to technical documents and work instructions.
  • Ensure that any relevant information is passed over to the next shift to aid a smooth changeover
  • Carry out minor maintenance tasks
  • Ensure that tools, gauges, measuring equipment, etc. are properly stored
