Job Description

ARNE is a direct to consumer, apparel and footwear brand based in Birchwood Park (near Wigan/Warrington), UK. ARNE designs and develops its products in the UK, manufactures in Europe & far east and then ships directly to its customers, with its ARNECLO.comecommerce store as its only sales channel.Founded in summer 2018 ARNE has used mainly organic marketing to deliver a great brand foundation with huge potential. This is testament to the great product market fit the team at ARNE have created.ARNE has ambitious objectives over the next decade with the team feeling all targets are achievable through new product category launches alongside the creation of paid media and CRM activity to further amplify the great product / brand assets ARNE has alreadycreated.Reporting directly to ARNEs MD, as Head of Operations you will be a natural leader and will be capable of getting the best out of a team of hardworking fulfilment centre operatives. You will manage the day-to-day operations of the ARNE fulfillment centreplanning all Goods-in and Goods-out activity. While 75% of your time will be spent on delivering on the ARNE promise today (this quarter, this FY etc) you will be given the freedom to assess and implement new systems, processes and best practices to ensurethe distribution centre is leading-edge and keeping pace with the growth of the sales of the business.As one of the key managers in the business youll be invited to high-level meetings with ARNEs Directors in order for you to bring forth ideas for how to ensure ARNE consistently improves its delivery experience.Requirements

  • Own and manage the day-to-day operations of the ARNE distribution centre ensuring same day dispatch on all in-stock items.
  • Own the recruitment of senior and assistant level distribution centre operatives and ensure the staff to daily output ratio is ample for the various seasonal swings within the distribution centre.
  • Work closely with the Head of Commercial & SLT to ensure new systems implementation is timely and deployed with minimal business interruption.
  • Work closely with the Buying and Merchandising team to ensure Goods-In and onsite stock levels always match the needs of the Trading team who require 100% stock availability on ARNE.com
  • Daily / Weekly reporting on distribution centre output, your teams activity and the overall results of the distribution centre.
  • Monitor individual throughput for each operative in the DC
  • Analyse returns reasons with the QA Manager and the CS Director to eliminate regular shipping and customer purchasing errors.
  • Collaborate with the Tech Team / Agencies to ensure customer purchasing errors are flagged and eliminated.
  • Regularly review DC layout and increase capacity whenever possible.
  • Maintain the DC staff rota.
  • Think like an ARNE customer. All day. Everyday.
About You:
  • 5 Years+ of managing distribution activity within eCommerce or similar high throughput distribution centre.
  • Great knowledge of WMS/OMS systems / software
  • Strong entrepreneurial bias that has track record building, managing and motivating yourself and teams of DC operators.
  • Experience managing quick stock turnover with high SKU count.
  • Strong experience with people management and recruiting.
  • Have a deep understanding of Distribution Centre operations.
  • Youre a natural leader; obsessed with delivering your promise to customers.
  • Efficiency and cost reduction is at the heart of everything you do.
  • Have a proven track record as an operations manager, who understands the importance of the customer.
  • Intellectual and emotional intelligence in balanced / equal measure
  • Understand how to build a team to maximise output, where mix of skill / talent types is required
  • Are a subjective thinker in terms of ideas, following your instinct, but youll be used to using internal/external data to underpin your ideas with confidence
  • You are independent and self-directed but able to work and lead a team of hardworking individuals
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to persuasively sell ideas
  • A quick learner who can process lots of information and prioritise action
