Job Description

Westray Recruitment Group are working with our client, who have an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR Officer to join their team on a permanent basis. This role is based in Billingham. Experience within a Construction setting is a requisite for this role.WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU

  • Salary Circa £ 25,000 to £28,000 depending on experience

THE BUSINESSOur client is a specialist Electrical & Instrumentation services contractor providing Engineering, Construction, Commissioning and Maintenance services covering a broad range of services such as Oil & Gas / Chemicals, Pharmaceutical & Healthcare, Mining,Power & Renewables, Industrial & Manufacturing, Commercial & RetailTHE ROLE
  • Preparing job descriptions and advertisements
  • Recruiting and onboarding new staff
  • Analysing training needs in conjunction with managers; planning and delivering training, including staff inductions.
  • Monitoring staff performance and attendance
  • Advising managers and other employees on employment law and the employers own employment policies and procedures
  • Ensuring candidates have the right to work at the organisation
  • Advising on disciplinary and employee performance problems
  • First point of contact for HR related matters
  • Answering any employee inquiries
  • Updating employee holiday and sickness records
  • Recording and processing confidential information
  • Maintaining database of all employees on a daily basis
THE PERSON
  • The HR officer is expected to be knowledgeable with employment legislation and possess strategic and commercial insight to the labour process.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in human resources within the construction industry.
  • Effective organisational skills
  • Ability to form working relationships with people at all levels
  • Knowledge of employment legislation
  • Full understanding of HR functions and best practices
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources
  • Must have construction industry experience
