Job Description

Zachary Daniels Recruitment are delighted to partner this VC backed DIY sundries manufacturer in the appointment of a Purchasing Manager to bring into their head office based in East Yorkshire.Key accountabilities:

  • Formulate, agree and review purchasing strategies with the Operations Director
  • Manage the performance of the purchasing function against agreed KPIs
  • Develop and manage supplier relationships
  • Proactively evaluate and select new suppliers
  • Establish Service Level Agreements, including performance targets for OTIF, quality and cost
  • Effectively monitor daily supplier performance resolving any problems that arise
  • Build strong and productive relationships with production planning, manufacturing, stock control and logisitcs
  • Assist Buyer with problem solving matters
  • Cover Buyers scheduling & ordering responsibilities during absences
  • Manage, lead and develop the Buyer
  • Contribute to the origination and management of Bills of Materials
  • Review, refine and establish good practice purchasing systems, processes and behaviours to align with purchasing plan and overall business strategy
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Leading a Purchasing function or operate at Senior Buyer level, ideally within a manufacturing environment with materials management/scheduling experience
  • Agreeing KPIs and managing effectively against the same
  • Establishing and embedding good purchasing practices
  • Practical and analytical approach to driving performance
  • Driving supply chain value
  • Excellent management and people skills with strong emotioanl intelligence
  • Create a culture of responsibility, ownership and execution excellence
  • Highly organised, numerate and dynamic with a strong results focus
  • Proficient operator of MRP systems
  • Ideally CIPS qualification or qualified by experience
