Job Description

Front End Developer, Climate Think TankAbout the CompanyThe company are a London UK based non-profit think tank working on the cutting edge of climate and sustainability issues. Their highly original analysis of the climate agenda has been covered by media globally, used and acted on by hundreds of investors and has informed numerous campaigns. They are probably best known for their unique platform for analyzing corporate lobbying on climate policy. They are globally recognized for the integrity of their work in tracking corporate lobbying on climate policy.About the RoleThis will be a key role within the organization, and you will greatly add value to the company as their work is increasingly driven by sophisticated data and technology strategies. You will work on data- intensive projects and platforms within their operations. You will also help evolve the underlying data and software systems that drive their work under instruction from the Technical Director.Their Core System is written in Python and MySQL. You will be thoroughly familiar with these and be able to contribute to its development and maintenance. You will assist the development of public and team-facing user interfaces of their web-based platforms, based on jQuery and Bootstrap.Working closely with key external datasets they deploy for their work, you will work across projects including their core activity, tracking corporate climate lobbying globally, as well as new research streams on use of social media. This position would suit a recent graduate wishing to develop programming skills with a dynamic team in a mission driven environment.Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing data analysis, coding, and technical support to project teams
  • Helping to evolve their information and data platforms, including implementation of front-end designs to their main platform and microsites
  • In time, developing and leading projects within other work areas
  • Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and handle time-sensitive work
  • Experience with Python, MySQL, PANDAS, Bootstrap, jQuery
  • Highly desirable: experience of Linux
  • A university degree
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Knowledge/interest of the work area (climate change/policy/finance) would be useful
  • Fluency in English
  • Salary, Location and Start Date:
  • The position will likely be remote working with location to their London office an option
  • Salary depending on experience/qualifications
  • This is a full-time position
