Job Description

SolicitorKeoghs Northern Ireland is seeking to recruit a Solicitor to handle a caseload of predominantly motor files with a value up to £30k, some experience in Casualty, Property Damage and Recoveries would also be desirable. The applicant should have at least 2years post qualification experience in Defendant Litigation. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within Keoghs Northern Irelands growing team who work with a variety of insurers and public sector clients.Key Accountabilities

  • Create initial case strategy following Client Guidelines and review of information available
  • Manage a caseload of motor cases predominantly at County Court level
  • Devising strategies to resolve cases with the best possible outcome, identifying areas to investigate and evidence to collate
  • Undertake discussions and negotiations with the Insured, Insurer and Third Party Solicitors to pursue the rapid and appropriate settlement of cases and the apportionment of costs
  • Undertake Court Hearings to ensure the progress is maximised and all actions have been undertaken to bring the case to settlement
  • Timely and accurate maintenance of all case management and management information systems to ensure completeness of records and aid business decision making
  • Working with the wider team to ensure a seamless delivery of services to Keoghs clients
  • Dealing with correspondence, telephone calls and providing written updates to clients detailing case activity to ensure that they receive up to date and accurate information about progress
  • Undertaking periodic reviews of files in line with Client requirements and Lexcel standards
  • Updating reports
  • Meeting agreed performance targets
  • Ensuring files are kept within ISO9001 guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct
  • Ensure compliance with the LSNI guidelines
Working Hours 35 hours per week. On occasion Solicitors may be expected to work such hours as are necessary to achieve their targets and it is expected that if demands of the work require it, longer hours will be worked to achieve those expectations.Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch.LocationPrimary location for this role is BelfastRecruitment Criteria:
  • Defendant litigation experience, handling own caseload at County Court level with experience of motor work
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent forensic skills
  • Ability to prioritise work, keep to deadlines and work under pressure
  • Ability work as part of a team and independently, keeping to strategy but flexible enough to adapt to change
  • Excellent advocacy skills
  • Positive, confident and enthusiastic
  • Experience in Casualty, Property Damage and Recoveries would be desirable
