Job Description

We are now recruiting for an experienced Facilities Technician to come and join our team in Belfast The Opportunity The OpportunitySchool: Belfast Metropolitan CollegeAddress: Queen Street, Belfast, BT3 9DTHours: 37.5 hours per weekContract: PermanentSalary: £24,951 per annum Day to Day

  1. Be responsible for the organisation of all maintenance paperwork by in house staff including contractors on site.
  2. Monitor outstanding work orders and insure paperwork is completed and stored correctly and closed the helpdesk off within agreed SLA.
  3. Ensure all weekly planned maintenance tasks are completed by Amey staff and paperwork recorded.
  4. To arrange/organise cover for the Amey maintenance team to ensure staffing levels are always met.
  5. To lead the maintenance team and contractors in daily health and safety requirements and ensure it complies with good working practices.
  6. To identify training and refresher training of the maintenance team
  7. To carry out toolbox talks with maintenance staff.
  8. Time management of in-house maintenance team.
  9. Good people management skills and good communicator.
  10. Set goals for the maintenance team to achieve on a weekly basis and ensure their completion within given timescales.
  11. Have a can-do attitude
  12. Responsibility for key management
  13. Collect materials from suppliers when required.
Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate would be responsible for maintaining and repairing and range of electrical and mechanical plant and equipment throughout the site.
  • They would carry out regular planned preventative maintenance completing reactive tasks and minor repairs as requested by the client.
  • Complete a variety of legal compliance tests including emergency lighting, fire alarms etc and servicing of equipment.
  • Undertake repairs arising from inspections and testing.
  • Respond promptly and in a positive manner to service call requests from the helpdesk and undertake repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible.
  • Priorities maintenance and repair work to achieve the agreed response times and if there are any delays, liaise with your supervisor/manager for direction.
  • Order and maintain materials, tools and equipment in accordance with company procedure.
  • Advise the helpdesk when 3rd party contractor attendance is required whether for quotation or to effect specialist repairs and provide the job specification.
  • Manage the attendance of sub-contractors and ensure they complete to the agreed standards and within costs.
  • Carry out remedial works, minor alterations and installations.
  • Advise where capital purchases are needed and manage surveys and reports.
  • Maintain asset registers ensuring all equipment is tagged.
  • Always Represent the company in a professional manner, developing a good working relationship with the Amey staff and clients staff and management.
  • Ensure paperwork is completed accurately and on time in line with company procedures.
