REED HR is delighted to support our public sector client who wishes to recruit a Data GovernanceOfficer to join their HR & Corporate Services / Legal & Governance teamThis role will develop & promote improved information management practices & support the Information Manager to provide a high quality information compliance and governance service. This will include the development & implementation of information managementpolicies & procedures & provision of specialist advice & guidanceBusiness Transformation Support digital transformation initiatives by reviewing, designing new & maturing information management practices to deliver best practice & develop action plans & manage information to improve compliance processes, systems & procedure Advise oninformation standards & codes of practice to assist with managing information in line with legislation Support the delivery of theOpen Data Strategy by promotion of data standards, engagement with the business & publication of data to the PortalCentral Support Develop & maintain strong working relationships, demonstratesupport & advice in relation to Information governance including the application of the corporate records retention & disposal schedule Maintain compliance with legislation & codes of practices to ensure best practice & statutory obligations are met Champion record keeping & information control for legal & evidential purposes & provide guidance on cataloguing information assets on the Corporate Information Asset Register Provide advice, guidance & training on the completion of Privacy Impact Assessments as part of legal obligationsCompliance Undertake reviews, audits & maturity analysis to determine compliance & effectiveness against Governance standards Member of the incident response team in the investigation ofpotential & actual data breaches & complaints concerning non-cyber data. Maintain the non-cyber data incident register & provide support on change initiatives, governance risks & recommend opportunitiesto reduce non-cyber data security incidentsTraining Support delivery of a programme of information governance training including the development & maintenance of guidance manuals & e-learningPersonal responsibilitiesDrive improvement culture within team & in other business areas through effective working relationship Work as part of the Information Management Team providing support where neededCriteriaMinimum of 2 years experience in a legal or information governance roleKnowledge of information based legislation to include: Freedom of Information Act,Environmental Information Regulations, Data Protection Act & UK General Data Protection RegulationHND/HNC or equivalent in relevant subject area eg business studies, information governance or lawAbility to conduct information governance audits & report findings toidentify recommendations for corrective actionExcellent attention to detail, analytical &research skillsAwareness of current affairs and of the environment which group operates in & key issues in information governance.Assimilate information & explain complex legal, regulatory & policy requirementsExcellent time management skills manage workload within deadlinesHigh level of interpersonal skills, strong influencing skills Ability to project manage legal and governance projectsSkills:Experience in a legal or information governanceKnowledge of information based legislationHND/HNC or equivalent
