Reed Hospitality are currently recruiting for the position of Catering Manager, in a well renowned and prestigious school in Belfast.Reporting to the Principal through the Bursar, as Catering Manager you will be directly responsible for the supervision of up to 15 Staff membersThis is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to be involved in managing a catering facility and helping it grow and develop whilst maintaining the highest levels of standard. You will be responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of catering service.Your responsibilities would include: Skilled cooking activities connected to the full range of menu provision for example preparation of menus, portion control, special dietary meals and function catering where appropriate. Organisation and supervision of food service, to include all aspects, service points and the transportation of meals. Actively promote the service through parents, principals and customers to increase the uptake of meals. To ensure that the kitchen and dining centres, if applicable, meet current standards of food safety legislation. To ensure all catering practice complies with appropriate Health and Safety Legislation. Responsible for securing the unit. To ensure effective communication links with the school on all aspects of service delivery. To ensure effective communication at all levels through regular staff meetings. To ensure all catering equipment is operational and to report any faults, or obtain quotations for repairs our new equipment. Supervision and direction of other employees including allocation of duties and work rotas. Where employed at a transporting kitchen, duties also incorporate the work routine of the Catering Assistants and the operational issues of dining centres. To effectively participate in the implementation of all policies relating to staff issues e.g., managing attendance, disciplinary and grievance. Induction and on-going staff training. Clerical duties associated with the efficient running of the kitchen, including record keeping and cash handling. Responsible for the managing of all resources to include food, labour, overheads and equipment. All duties must be carried out to comply with(a) Acts of Parliament, Statutory Instruments and Regulations and other Legalrequirements.(b) Codes of Practice. All duties will be carried out in the working conditions normally inherent in the job. All necessary administration must be completed as required. Duties will be carried out for jobs up to and including those in the same grade, provided such duties are within the competence of the employee.Essential: City and Guilds 706/2, NVQ Level 2 Catering or equivalent Basic Food Hygiene Certification or equivalent A minimum of 1 year experience in large scale catering as an assistant cook or equivalent Knowledge of health and safety Knowledge of culinary skills Knowledge of HACCP/COSHH Knowledge of hygiene High standard of personal hygiene Ability to communicate effectively with customers and staff Team working skillsDesirable: Knowledge of nutritional standards for schools Staff management skills Administrative skills Intermediate Hygiene Certificate Bakery qualificationPlease note this position will be 33.75 hours per week during term-time with a Summer retainer paid out of term-timeIf you feel this is the perfect opportunity for you, please contact Luke
